45 freshman will not be traveling to papa johns. there will only be about 7 or 8 freshman dressing on friday night.

 

I thought that once the frosh season was over, they ALL had the option of staying with the varsity as long as they wanted, up to and including the championship game. I don't know how many chose to do that, but it looked like a bunch of them were in uniform Friday night.

I think that BG will have a sour taste in their mouth due to the fact that they have been to and lost in state the last couple years. I think that this year they just might pull through. So ill take BG in a close one

The freshmen kept practicing, although separately from the Varsity. They continued to practice in Death Valley, and were doing some drills and got back to lifting weights twice a week. At last count, there were about 14 still practicing.

 

Two freshmen linemen were moved up to practice on the scout team with some of the JV.

Not sure yet, although I believe they will. That's the impression they were given at the end of the freshman season.

I don't think the ones that have not been practicing and dressing for playoffs will be on the bus for state. Just my thoughts. I was a little surprised at the number of boys that decided not to practice and dress for Fridays. I know their are some that play basketball but not that many.

Not me... Highlands has an excellent team this year, and not only are they very talented but they also play as a TEAM where no individual really sticks out of the crowd (which is a really good thing). I don't know too much about BG but I just don't see anyone stopping Highlands this year, but good luck to both.

I believe they find out today who will be going as there was some question about the bus. I too was surprised that only about a third of them stuck it out. Does not bode well for down the road.

BG fans have been relatively quiet this year compared to past years. I think they have been looking toward this game for many weeks. The players I'm sure have also had Highlands in their mind since it was obvious early on that they were their main competition for a state title. Losing two years in a row can get to be a heavy monkey on one's back and it is important that they end the streak as soon as possible. Highlands and their fans have a swagger about them gained from years of being top dog but it's been a while since they were on the carpet. I voted for Highlands but I think this may be the best game of the championships. Good luck to both teams.

Last won in 2004...a title every three years, since 1959, is our average...we are right on schedule. Besides, like I stated somewhere else in here, my 2004 State Champions hat is getting ratty. I need a new one with 2007 on it.
