Just look at HHS schedule the past two years, they will not beat themselves. These guys have played against some incredible teams on big stages, and though it wasn't for a ring; it will definetely pay dividends on Friday night. I do believe that Dales' scheduling was an investment for future teams. I think you can plan to see some dividends on those investments on Friday night.

 

I hope it is a great game Friday, and have incredible respect for the BG program and consider a few Purples to be heartfelt friends and only wish them the best of luck, but I think Dale's vision of the big picture starts to payout on Friday and possibly over the next three years.

Yeah, I heard BGs fat and out of shape kids decided to skip a few practices, a couple were fighting with there gfriends, a couple more said they were just happy to be there and there coach was too busy christmas shopping to put a game plan in so decided to just wing it this week. :sssh:

Haven't read too many posts on this thread this week. To me this is the most intriguing mathcup of the weekend. I have seen both teams play and if they both play A games, this will be one heck of a game. I am hoping BG can put together a good State Championship game to keep this one close. My prediction is that this will be the best game of the weekend.

I guess the other 8 playoff games leading up to the state weren't big games, huh.. I don't disagree that BG didn't play well vs Lex Cath in 05 and CC in 06, but, it happens and each year there are different kids on the field, especially from 2 yrs ago. Even as bad as BG played last year and it was bad, they didn't get beat all that bad by CC..I think CC beat Highlands twice last year, so, does that mean they fail to win big games too. IMO, the last 2 years the schedules hurt them. Same can't be said for this year as imo, they have had a much tougher road to travel than Highlands has. I think the tough games with Owensboro, JHardin will help them along with the fact that these returning players from the last 2 yrs have state championship experience, something FTH can't say.. Yes, Coach Mueller has been there before, but, the kids haven't and you never know how they are going to react when they're on the big stage. I'm sure all Highlands fans will say they'll be just fine and they may be, but, in truth, you really just don't know. I think the experience factor could be in Bgreens favor this year.

 

 

You may be right about the experience factor because they've been in the state title the last two years; then again, these Highlands kids have played at Paul Brown Stadium and in the Herbstreit Classic the last two years. Both are big time, high stress situations. While its not quite the same as playing for the state title, keep in mind a lot of these seniors started as sophomores when we played LexCath and as juniors when we played CovCath in the playoffs. Our players actually believed those games were for the state titles. The pressure on the Highlands kids to finally beat an Ohio team in the Herbie was very, very intense. They came through with flying colors, beating a Trotwood team that has 6 or more D1 players. In hindsight, I can't think of any other game that could have been scheduled to better prepare us for BG. Big time venue; big time pressure; playing against a team with stud receivers and a stud qb. Thus, while I may be wrong, I'm not sure BG's appearances in the last two title games provides them much of an advantage at all.

 

It actually may turn out to be a disadvantage. If people don't think some BG kids are feeling the pressure to win it the third time; not choke; not turn the ball over; not do whatever they did the last two years to get blown out, I think those people are in denial. It will definitely be there regardless of what speeches Coach Wallace gives; what posts are made on here; what words are said to one another between players this week. In the back of their minds, they have to wonder if its going to happen again. There is definitely going to be a monkey on the BG players' back. I'm not saying they won't be able to overcome it. They very well may be able to do so with the talent they have. But its undeniably there regardless of what the players state in newspapers.
