The BG kids will also feel the fluttering butterflies but the last time they played in such a big game, the result was not one that they wanted.

 

I do agree with you that if things go bad for BG at the beginning, the wheels may wobble and may even fall off.

 

 

Bowling Green, which beat Highlands 28-12 in the 1995 3-A final for its only state title, is playing in its third consecutive state championship game. Turnovers plagued the Purples in the past two. They committed four in a 49-21 loss to Lexington Catholic in 2005 and five in a 27-8 loss to Covington Catholic last year. They fumbled a total of 10 times in those two games, losing five.

 

Bowling Green committed only eight turnovers in its first 12 games this season but combined for nine the past two weeks while defeating John Hardin (27-23) and Owensboro (35-13).

Man, I'm not getting much done here at the salt mines today. The Birds are locked and loaded for the game tomorrow night. I'm sure the Purples are also. Whatever the outcome (of course I think the Birds prevail) it has been a true privilege to watch the careers of the Highlands seniors. It seems like eons ago when we were playing on Saturday mornings down in Death Valley. To all of the seniors and one in particular all I can say is we are very proud of you guys. You've put in the time, the effort, done more than what is asked of you.

You've made the sacrifices to make your team what it is today. Thank you, guys for all you have done. Thank you for these lifelong memories and the experience of being with you these many years.

And I never said otherwise. You know good and well that I didn't mean that a regular season game against a non district opponent was more important than the state championship. An absurd question deserves an absurd answer, regardless of one's affiliation.

 

I've said that it will be a good game but I believe HHS will win, not that BG can't win...
