It has been a few years since my graduation but once a "cake", always a "cake". I managed to get to a few games this year and this team reminds me of my brother's team, the 1970-71 champs and no one could stop them either. GO BIRDS!!!!

Well, let's see, Coach Bailey passed away this summer right before the season started and with the exception of Cantrall's ultra accurate ratings we are the underdogs. I don't see how both cards can't be played. If that's what it takes for a little extra motivation then so be it. No one from BG talked about the motivational remember riding your bike to little league practice and living your dreams that you've had for so long post from a few days ago. In fact, everyone seemed to respect it. Yeah, we choked away 2 state championships and may choke away another one who knows? All we lowly folks from BG want is for our beloved Purples to put up a good fight this time around. Hopefully we got all of our turnovers out the way the last two weeks, if not, we will most definitely bow down before the almighty team of Fort Thomas Highlands. We obviously aren't worthy.

 

 

No one ever said that you weren't worthy. In fact, you are the most worthy opponent that we'll face this year in my mind. Your team stands between our boys and their opportunity of a state title. We are truly sorry for your loss. After my senior year we lost a dear friend and coach in "Red Dog" Dougherty. All programs go through trials and tribulations on and off the field. Thanks for the compliment of my post riding my bike to practice. I thought everyone could relate to that in one way or another.

 

As for this game, if we got on here and said that we wouldn't win and our boys weren't the best in the state, then it could be a negative vibe that we don't need before a title game. BG's boys don't deserve this game more than ours just because they didn't win the last two, we don't deserve it more than you because we haven't been to one in 3 years. It will come down to who will execute and who can dig down and display the "intestinal fortitude" and grind it out. Any true HHS fan on here has not disrespected your program and has not picked the Birds to blowout this game, atleast not seriously. This is the title game and we know that both teams will bring it all.

 

 

I hope that we can keep these last few hours civil on here and just realize that both programs are good and we are very fortunate to have the opportunity to play for another title game. I believe that I speak for the majority of the Bluebird Nation when I say that we respect you and know just what kind of dog fight we are in for. Good Luck to you, however I will be rooting for the BIRDS. Atleast it's not going to be raining from what the current weather is saying. C'mon Birds bring home your 1st(for any of these boys). Forget thinking about 17, you go get your first!

Sorry, I have my opinion, and it is that Highlands thinks that BG has no shot in this game, and I get tired of hearing about how Highland's is better than everyone else, if you don't like my opinion then I am sorry.

 

You're certainly welcome to your opinion just like everyone else. I just don't understand the bolded part. I think the great majority of Highlands fans have indicated that they expect a war. We do expect to win, but then again, so do the BG fans.

FTBIGBIRD....You are ABSOLUTELY RIGHT! For the players on both sides...GO AND GET YOUR FIRST! And may the better team win! There are countless players that NEVER get the thrill of playing in a state final. It's a thrill you will NEVER forget! Cherish every moment, every play...take the time to look around and remember when you started playing FB...look how far you come. Be proud, be thankful, be a CHAMPION!

I believe that everyone all year felt that BGHS and HHS were the 2 best teams in 5A and deserve to play for the championship. For sure, for sure, HHS knows they are in for a battle and they never take anyone lightly, much less a very good state championship game opponent. Either team could pull it out but I believe that only the Birds are capable of running away with the game. If the Purples win, it will be by a very narrow margin. Good luck to both teams and we are pulling for the Cakesters. I hope I do not offend my friends from Highlands by calling them Birdies or Cake Eaters or Cakesters!!!!
