I would really like to see this game but won't be able to attend, but I might add Steelman has a very nice fake, he even fooled the refs on one of them that blew the play dead when we tackled the RB and our fans were cheering and I saw Steelman just trotting the other direction with the ball I was the closest person to him and I was 10 rows up. LOL Good Luck both teams I will be listening on the radio. Oh yeah and the Moore kid is really good reminds me of a young Randy Moss just throw the ball to him and he will go up and get it well except for a few times tonight and he is also hard to throw against while he is playing safety. Steelman needs to be a little more composed under pressure though Owensboro got to him early and he made several mistakes but after Bowling Green made some adjustments and got him more time he picked us apart with the big guys he had to throw to.

I agree that the Purples MUST be on top of their game the whole game in this one. Nine turnovers in two weeks concerns me very much. On the other hand, the Purples played at John Hardin (and I said that this was a great program waiting to happen) and gave them their only loss of 2007. Then they went to the Dungeon...old WKC rival Owensboro. The record now stands at 37 wins for OHS, 26 for BGHS, and two ties. The two schools have been playing each other on and off (mostly on) since 1932. This is a super intense rivalry. Ask the numerous players from both sides who got up after plays very woozy because of monstrous hits. Yes, BGHS might have been lucky to get this far, but I called this the Murderer's Row for BGHS getting to their ultimate goal, and that's bringing home the big trophy. BGHS is now 2/3 of the way through that Murderer's Row. To have won the way they did was a MAJOR test of their intestinal fortitude and their determination. They passed with flying colors. But that many mistakes against Highlands will not bode well for the Purples. I'm quite sure that this will be worked on in practice this week.

 

The Purples are motivated. They remember all too well the losses in the last two 3A Championship Games, and they do not want a three-peat. They took steps to schedule more wide open offenses this year. They went to Marshall Stadium at Trinity and, for 3 1/2 quarters, they stood toe-to-toe with the finest program in KY over the last 39 years, and they're knocking at the door for #18 next week. The Rock Camp came away with a keen respect for the Purples. But as far as a schedule is concerned, there are many programs who do not want to schedule BGHS for various reasons. And it isn't BGHS's fault if they're saddled with a weak district. We all honestly thought that Warren Central would be much more of a challenge this year. They weren't, and that was disappointing. But you take what you can get as far as scheduling goes. Warren East had an outstanding season this year, and that was a definite plus for our schedule. It wasn't BGHS's fault that Boyle Co had such an impossible schedule this year, but they played great games against Henry Clay and Lexington Catholic (regular season) before losing those games. The only blowout losses that Marshall Co suffered all season were to BGHS and St X (they also lost a squeaker to Graves Co).

 

And PurplePride's explanation of the Purple Spirit is a great one. Look at 72 Birdman's avatar...that's BGHS's mascot, Casper the Muscle Ghost!

 

I look for a tight game, and I think that the bad experiences in Louisville the last two years will motivate the Purples to avoid another losing experience. This game has the potential to be the most entertaining one of the six on Championship Weekend. I like the Purples in a close one.

I forgot to mention that, before the BGHS game, the most points Owensboro gave up in any game was 22 points. The Purples had 35 and were driving for another score, but Coach Kevin Wallace decided to use up as much of the clock as possible.

I'm with you on this one. I had a great time with the Bowling Green fans when we played them in 2005 and 2006. They were truly friendly people and outstanding hosts.........GO PURPLES!

Last year with all the D1 signing that BG had, and all the hype of being #1 all season long that BG had, I thought for sure the BG vs. CovCath game was going to be a tough hard fought game. As we all know now, the game was over before it even started. BG has to prove to me at least that they can beat someone good, before I could vote for them. HHS wins by whatever the average win margin that LexCath and CovCath beat BG by the last two years was.....

What a great scouting report you gave! We thought you were just coming to the BG games because you were supporting the local kids you seem to know so well, but we know now how much you truly hate the Purples! We'll help you pack if we win !:lol: You are right about one thing, it should be a great game.

Hate is a pretty strong word. I actually have a lot of purple friends and do enjoy going to the games to support their kids. I am also a high school football addict and enjoy watching good football. BGHS plays the best football in western kentucky. I must admit my purple friends haven't been to happy when I predicted the final score to within 7 points in their last to state final appearances. Like I said earlier, I expect this to be a much closer game and feel the purples have the talent to win .

In talking to the Ru and some other folks that "know" high school football, a lot of people believe that BG is a much better team this year than last year. Sometimes all that D1 talent can be more of a problem than an advantage. Then again, maybe its simply a matter of them going more with the pass this year and having the athletes (Steelman, Moore and Wallace) to do it very, very well. I know its going to be very cold Friday night; I just hope its windy and raining too. Nothing like trying to execute the passing game in bad weather:D
