I just hope we can be competitive this year and hopefully make it to the 4th quarter with a chance to win. Our 2 previous teams that made it to the carpet were better than they played. I'd like to see this year's version play up to their full potential and garner some respect for our program. I'd like to think that we have a group of seniors who have come so close but not sealed the deal be able to seal the deal this time around. Who knows what will happen but I say BG pulls it out. I am thinking that once the BG fans get home from O'Boro, the poll results might change just a bit.

 

My vote (1) was heard.

I think the game will be closer than a lot of energetic Highlands fans think so far. I.m not prepared right now to say that BG will win. Let me read some of the commentary on this thread over the next few days.

It should be a classic game and I wouldn't be at all surprised if, when it's all said and done next week, this game is the best of the 6 state championship games.

 

HHS and BG have been the "class of Class 5A" for the entire season, and it's nice to see that both squads took care of business in the regular/post-season and made it to the title game! Staying focused week after week for 14 weeks is no easy task, and given that both teams' combined W-L record in 2007 is 27-1 (with BG's 11-pt loss to 6A power Trinity coming early in the year) it's clear that both teams stayed VERY focused!

I think that the Highlands fans are energetic, but we are not looking for it to be a blow out. We know BG will be tough. It is the match up that has been meant to be since the first game of the year.

Obviously if Bowling Green has any hope to beat Highlands they have to come ready to play from the kickoff, unlike tonight. Besides the 5 turnovers, the Purples dropped 2 maybe 3 balls that should have been intercepted. They will not beat the Bluebirds if they make the same costly errors.

 

Really all of Owensboro's points came due to being given excellent field position off of Bowling Green turnovers. Bowling Greens defense played pretty good. Once they decided to play, Bowling Greens offense looked great. They probably could have added another TD late in the game, but choose to run the ball and keep the clock moving. Putting up 35 on Owensboro's defense is pretty impressive especially considering that they shot themselves in the foot the first 20 minutes of the game.

 

This might actually be a pretty good game, however, with Highlands history, a blowout wouldn't shock me either.

Yes it is...I thought this might have been a 15-14 game with either team having a chance to win.

I'll tell you right now BG doesn't score 28 on the Birds.....I don't think there is a team in the state that could.....They are the fastest most fundamentally sound team in the state...Bring home #17!!!!!!!

No reason to pick against the Birds now after selecting them as 5A favorite since July. BG will have to take care of the ball to hang with the Birds. My 2 superficial reasons to choose the Birds: 1)I like blue better than purple 2)what is a purple? - a bluebird is a ferocious little pesky feathered friend that can poop in your hair but what the heck is a purple and what can it do to you?
