October 30, 200718 yr Dang. Now we have to find someone else to beat up on. I was going to pick Sticky for taking his kids out, but he seems to tip adequately for them. Now if he would just keep them under control.
May 26, 201313 yr My daughter sells beer at GABP. She was saying she heard some teenagers asking if they should tip the usher who was showing them to their seat. They decided they wouldn't because "it's his job." I made the comment that a lot of kids simply do not understand tipping rules. She said "A lot of adults don't either." I was surprised when she told me how many people do not tip her. She says she lugged a full case of beer to the top row last night and didn't get a tip from the guy.
May 26, 201313 yr ^ People are either rude or ignorant, or both! If I use an usher I'll tip a buck at least, But I can't recall the last time I needed one. Not sure how much beer is (like how close to the next dollar it is) But I can't see me not tipping something to not leave my seat to get a drink. Some may see the prices too high anyway and take it out on the place by not tipping, I can't see me doing that at all.

That hasn't really been my experience so far this year selling beer down there at GABP. I'd say over 75% of people at least tip the 75 cents (beers are $8.25) and quite a few will tip even more. Sometimes I'm surprised even. Happens quite a bit that I'll get a $10 and told to keep the changes or a $20 on two beers and be told to keep the change ($3.50). I will say that women are the worst tippers, not trying to be sexist, but the majority of times that I don't get tipped, its a middle aged woman, or a 21-24 year old.
May 27, 201313 yr What's the proper tipping protocol at a buffet?I do not tip at these places. Most times I have to get my own drink and at times I put my dirty dishes in the dirty dish cart(Never at a Chinese buffet do I put dishes into carts)but have had to get my own drinks.

The Chinese place I go to always refills my drinks & removes dirty dishes ASAP. I typically leave 15%, but I didn't know if there was a different standard.
May 27, 201313 yr You are correct. I have to agree. Wait, does this post really date back to '07. Holy moly! The good ole days!

Wait, Tbirds was at the game last night. Lol! Yeah, that was pretty rude of that dude. What's a beer cost at a Reds game these days?
May 27, 201313 yr Always 20% unless service was really bad then 10-15. My company only allows 15%, but I make it 20 and they adjust it on my expense report.
May 27, 201313 yr What's the proper tipping protocol at a buffet? Another twist to that would be the casino buffet. Since so many are comped or partially comped these prices are jacked up. My buddy and I went to Horseshoe Cincy last night and 2 buffets cost about $45, but we got it free due to my Total Rewards points. We were seated by the host who took our drink order, when we came back from getting our first plates our drinks were waiting on us. About twenty minutes into our meal a waitress came and removed used plates and got us a refill and we never seen anyone again. Who would you tip in that situation?
