Raceland 23 Ashland 20

Im not suggesting anything but if you think that athletics doenst have a huge part in a family packing up and moving down the road 15-30 minutes that you are sadly mistaken. Of course. they may recieve a better education at other schools, that I can not comment on cause I dont know the academic reputaion of the other local schools(I know that Russell has a very impressive academic team), but that is commonly the reason for moving according to the student and his/her parents. Now as long as it is a bona fide change of address into another district, its hard to stop anything, although possible. Once again Im not suggesting anything but stating the facts.

I agree. I suspect that most all transfers of decent athletes are for athletic reasons. However, that is in violation of KHSAA rules. Therefore, due to the obvious, KHSAA should either "rework" that rule or enforce it in all such cases.

Great win for Raceland again - two years in a row is no fluke ...

Ashland really needs to consider direction in this program .... If 5a cannot dominate 1A at the line of scrimmage soemthing is really wrong ...

Always like Raceland staff and kids - no fluke ... Looking forward to matchup with Devils ...

It OK. Last year for example... little ole 1A beat the Tomcats, but 2A didnt do much... wheres the mis match?

Any news today on Denton?

Cngrats to Raceland on an exciting win.

Ashland was a one man show last night. Mr. Carter is the real deal. This young man was very exciting to watch.

Though this was a tough loss for the Cats, it still can propel them to a successfull season. Work must be done on the defense however, especially the pass defense if they expect to win games.

Next Friday night will show how much heart this team really has, just as it did this time last year.

Denton had a scan and he's just fine. Logan hurt his hand in the first series of the game its swolen and hurt him a lot the rest of the game, but he's fine. Whats the word on the two Ashland linemen hurt last night. Enough praise has'nt been given to the coaches at Raceland. They brought a well trained team last night. Any time there was a problem, they corrected it. I think we have a perfect match, coaches and players. And that sports fans is golden.

And 2 little old AA schools gave them all that they wanted. Belfry took them to OT and Russell took them to 3 OT. Kind of like Boyd Co beating Russell in 05. Boyd finished the season 5-5 and Russell ended up being the state champs. Those games are nothing more than bragging rights. As for the mis match I believe Raceland made it to the third round of the playoffs and Belfry made it to the State semis and Russell made it to the State finals while Ashland bowed out in the second round. Where did beating a couple of the top AA teams in the state get them? I have nothing against Ashland and I had a nephew play for them last year but I would much rather lose to them and make it much deeper into the playoffs. It is just not that much of a bragging rights game to me. Sure it would be nice to win but it did not affect our district and regional play at all. ;)

Thanks for the update volvo, it is great news to hear about Denton anf Logan. I haven't heard anything on the two Ashland kids that went out. Hopefuly someone will update.

As for the Raceland coaches, I agree and have always given them credit as others have. The Raceland coaching staff may not be in a class by themselves but it sure doesn't take long to call the roll ;) :thumb: Coach Vanderhoof and the staff had these kids confident, installed a good game plan and the kids went out and executed that game plan with confidence. Another great start for the Rams to go into Putnam Stadium and face a tradition rich Tomcat football team and come out with a win.

Has anyone wondered how many yards Carter would of had if he actually had a line to block for him???

Selling out on Coach Hart and the Tomcats already? Ashland will be fine, it just going to take patience. They did lose 22 seniors so its not going to be great from the get go. Ashland is still a place of Tomcats and not Kitty Cats as your location suggests.:thumb:

Ithink I know the secret to Raceland's success Friday night. I saw some of their players at Starbucks in Ashland Thursday night getting some of that high Octane caffeine. I must have propelled them through that game. Congratulations. And when you play Russell, we'll have to try and block all roads to Starbucks the night before.

Shhh. Don't be telling everyone our secrets, that's not gatorade in those coolers. :D

Let me post a reminder about rule #4:

4. No school-specific (or general) recruiting comments or allegations of KHSAA rules violations by any school, coach, player or booster are allowed. No talking about where any player lives, has lived, or where they are from in a recruiting context. This is not the place to report KHSAA violations. Feel free to contact www.khsaa.org to report such violations, but do not discuss violations here.

Comments like this do nothing to help. I know there were people sitting around me who left the game early and missed Ashland's terrific comeback. If all you can add to the conversation are negative comments and sarcastic remarks, it would be better if you just kept those thoughts to yourself. This is a young team with almost no varsity experience who in their first varsity experience:

1. Came back from a 14 point deficit in 10 minutes.

2. Showed a lot of heart.

3. A sophomore ran for 236 yards and 2 TD's.

4. Forced 2 turnovers inside the 10 yard line.

5. And lost to a good team on a 40 yard field goal with no time left.

See its not so bad. Ashland has a great coach and a talented team. I'm sure you felt the same way this time last year, before they won 8 straight.
