MEDICINEMAN
With temperatures this week predicted to be in the high 90s, what do teams do to combat the heat, in addition to KHSAA mandates?......Lots of water and gatorade, ice, and plenty of breaks. Moderation in some physical activities is called for and VERY close observance of each and every Kid by coaches and trainers. It is also important that Coaches and supporting staff are well hydrated also...IMO...:thumb:

cvillecat
Do what they did in the 70's, give em salt tablets and tell them to get back in the huddle:lol: My how times have changed.
Ram
What a lot of teams do is practice early in the morning, before it gets hot, and late in the evening, after it starts cooling down. Frequent water breaks, iced down towels, less running and more position specific drills. If it gets to hot teams practice without pants, or in doors. Ram
Is that legal? Don't come to a Raceland practice, it's hard to say what you will see.
woodsrider
This year Henderson has setup cooling tents with misting fans for players to use during water breaks. They also give 10 min water breaks every 30 mins no matter what the temps are. Everyone is gun shy after last year so they have put in a few other procedures to help. That said I am not saying I disagree with what they are doing but in no way will these kids be ready to play come August 24th when the temps will most likely be 95 at game time.
