June 5, 200719 yr How do you get old fast when you are the healthiest you've been in 10 years, and producing at a high rate? That just didn't make any sense. Better closers in NL are: Billy Wagner Trevor Hoffman Francisco Cordero Takashi Saito Brian Fuentes Jason Isringhausen Dan Wheeler Why trade for Lidge when there are the Dan Wheelers of the world out there? Build your bullpen dirt cheap and be efficient at it. This doesn't add up in the end......If the Astros were looking to trade Lidge, he would surely be closing to inflate his value. A. I don't want to trade for Lidge. B. If you think Fuentes and Izzy are better (Izzy? He is put together with duct tape and chicken wire right now) than we look at the game differently. Again, you're anointing Saito as better after two months? Wow. C. So producing at a high rate and being healthy nullifies one's birth date? Good to know. So I guess the Reds can get 10 more years out of Griffey because he qualifies?
June 5, 200719 yr Again, you're anointing Saito as better after two months? Wow. So we are throwing out a full season for the sake of argument???
June 5, 200719 yr Heard today that Lidge is on the block. To me this is a priority. Send K Dunn to Texas for Mr. Lidge-----Today!!!!!!!!Not me....
June 5, 200719 yr Not me.... Very true. They said if Lidge is traded then it would probably be to the Phillies and if Dunn is tradable then the Padres are interested. Now here is food for though. The D-train is on the block because Florida wants to keep Miguel Cabrera and Willis has lost a step. The Reds, if they really want a pitcher, should look at him and not Lidge.
June 5, 200719 yr I would... In a heartbeat....:thumb: Now you got me envisioning a rotation of.... Willis Harang Arroyo Bailey Belilse Man that would be nice.
June 5, 200719 yr I would... So would I, and throw in some Kings Island tickets, and tell him he would never have to do a CaR-X mechanics of the game with the "Crappy Lefthander".
June 5, 200719 yr The Reds need pitching, but not at the expense of trading away RBI production. Here's where people would tell you that his RBI production is not good enough: Dunn Situational Stats from 2006 Carlos Lee Situational Stats from 2006
June 5, 200719 yr Here's where people would tell you that his RBI production is not good enough: Dunn Situational Stats from 2006 Carlos Lee Situational Stats from 2006 Yeah, I'm not terribly sure that BP and E5 won't have more RBIs than "Dunn The Slugger" by the end of the season.
June 5, 200719 yr Yeah, I'm not terribly sure that BP and E5 won't have more RBIs than "Dunn The Slugger" by the end of the season. If Dunn could make those stats respectable, he'd be a $18 to $20M guy in the future.
June 5, 200719 yr The Reds have a lot of needs and trading one of your only, if not the only, consistent RBI producer, for pitching is a good deal, then I'm not much of a baseball guy. He's consistently hit 40 HR's and will drive in, near 100 RBI's (if anyone gets on base in front of him). He is, what he is....a power hitting, RBI producer and he'll never win the batting title, but he will help the Reds.

That's when he strikes out the most. Phillips and Encarnacion are rapidly becoming far more fearsome hitters with runners on base.

Phillips and Encarnacion are rapidly becoming far more fearsome hitters with runners on base.Phillips, is an ideal leadoff man and not RBI producer. As for "E", I'll wait longer than 2 weeks, to anoint him a better RBI producer, than Dunn. Dunn K's, no secret to any team. In an ideal world, all teams would have 40Hr's, 125 RBI's and .310 avg, but they are as seldom, as 7yr locusts. I believe Dunn is 3rd on the teams in hits, leads in 2B, RBI's and Slugging %, but yet, the Reds still struggle.
