June 5, 200719 yr When (if ever) has a closer been traded for a guy who's going to hit 40 HRs every year? There is a reason run manufacturing guys cost money. The "Dunn isn't clutch" was once proved false on this board. A closer and a starter maybe, but not a closer straight up. Never, but I would counter with this: When has the market for top-shelf pitching been so thin? A guy like Dunn is a lot easier to replace than a top-shelf pitcher.
June 6, 200719 yr The "Dunn isn't clutch" was once proved false on this board. . It was? I do remember posting once that a lot of his homers were hit in tight games. I don't remember though anyone "proving" that he was good in the clutch.
June 6, 200719 yr Not for $8 mil, but in the $3-$4 range, over some current pitchers. I'd take Weaver at $3-$4 mil in a heartbeat. Problem is, somebody else is willing to pay $6.5 mil.
June 6, 200719 yr I would take Weaver, over several of the current Reds pitchers. Congratulations you just spent money on a pitcher who has an ERA (14.32) that is larger than the GNP of many small countries, an all-time record of 86-107 in spite of spending the last few seasons with the Yankees, the Angels, and the Cardinals, of course he does have the courage of a French General facing the Blitkrieg. . . . . . Is this really Strike3 or did someone hack your passoword?

Yes, even Joe (I know he's dead but he's got just as many wins this year as Weaver). You could probably get both for less and they'd do less damage to the team ERA.
June 6, 200719 yr Dunn and Milton and a prospect for Lidge and Rodriguez, might not work, but try it and see. I trade Milton for a bucket of balls if the other team would take his salary.
June 6, 200719 yr Okay Reds' fans, since many of you are trying to "will" a Dunn trade, would you make this one? To San Diego for: Clay Hensley Leo Rosales Vince Sinisi Jose Lobaton Would you pull the trigger on this deal?
June 6, 200719 yr What about to the Yankees (Giambi's replacement) for a package that would include Jose Tabata? Would you do that?
June 6, 200719 yr Norris Hopper is proving how valuable Dunn is. Hopper has pretty much replaced Freel with his hustle, hitting and defense. But you move Dunn out of this lineup and who is going to end the season producing 160 runs? (100 RBI's + 100 Runs scored - 40 HR's) No one. Freel was a huge part of this offense but Hopper has shown how easy that can be replaced. No one in the organization ready to step in today and replace the stats Dunn will accumulate by season end. Only a couple will come within 20-30 of this number.

Is this really Strike3 or did someone hack your password? Please don't attempt to insult me, as there is no need and you're better than that. If you would have read the posts, leading up to my comment about Weaver, I stated..."I would take Weaver, over several of the current Reds pitchers". As for his ERA being that high, it often happens when a pitcher has limited innings (22 in 6 games) and is on the DL....
