April 5, 200719 yr The 4pm presser is also for Florida's Juniors to anounce thier decisions regarding the NBA. Could this be another blow to UK fans.........
April 5, 200719 yr  Are you saying that you liked NCAA probation? Has either one of them ever been on probation?
April 5, 200719 yr Calipari's been coaching for what 20 years now, and never have any of his coached teams been on probation. That says enough for me. I'm sure alot of people don't like his armonte outfits and his cockiness, but, to me, that's exactly what UK needs right now, someone with confidence and swagger and one who can handle the pressure that is Uk basketball....I think he's the best available coach out there myself, but, I am not sure he's willing to go anywhere with the kind of team he's got coming back next year and the class he's got coming in... His entire NCAA tourney in 96 was vacated by the NCAA, they get credit for zero wins even though they made the final four. This was by the way the best year that he had at UMass, and it got took away. Coach Cal also left town ASAP after the tourney and never coached another game there.
April 5, 200719 yr I hope they all come back and try for the threepeat would be fun to watch, all but two games anyway.
April 5, 200719 yr Are you saying I'm full of crap??? I doubt that is what he's saying. We've always figured that's implied.
April 5, 200719 yr  Are you saying that you liked NCAA probation? When has Matta been in trouble? Also, has Calipari been in any kind of trouble at Memphis?
April 5, 200719 yr Buy the way, the news reports say that the decision was made AFTER UK had been given permission to talk to Billy.

April 5, 200719 yr Hopefully we aren't turning on an AD who couldn't hire away a coach from a school where he had just won back to back championships... It's unprecedented to think that he would come to UK... Has a coach EVER left a school after he's won the title to take a job at another school? This was a long shot and lots of people got their hopes up.... It happens... Count your losses and move on. You and Watusi make some EXCELLENT points. I saw somewhere today they showed how it hardly EVER happens that a coach wins a title and takes another job. John Wooden and Al McGuire were 2 who left, but they retired after a title season. Mitch has filled every opening he had to pretty well so far. They are all succeeding nicely. I don't expect him to rush into a decision just to quiet down a few impatient fans. Heck folks, UK went nearly 2 & 1/2 months after Sutton resigned before they had a successor, ... what's a few weeks? We have to be patient and let the man do his job and find who he believes is the best candidate. I will cheer for whomever he hires and give him time to recruit & coach the Cats before passing judgement.

This was by the way the best year that he had at UMass, and it got took away. Coach Cal also left town ASAP after the tourney and never coached another game there. That was due to Camby and an agent, not Calipari...It was very similar to the Morris thing, except Morris didn't quite go that far...I wouldn't have blamed Tubby for Morris if he would have been ruled ineligible, and I wouldn't blame Calipari for what Camby did...just my opinion...Cal did have a run in with John Chaney, at one time, but, I thought then and still do, that that case was more Chaney in the wrong, then anything Cal did. It's certainly not like Chaney hasn't had his own issues in the past, ala Bobby Knight...
April 5, 200719 yr I'm guessing Andy Katz is their source. Why all the hate for Calipari, Marcus Camby getting an agent was the problem at UMass. He can recruit and plays uptempo. Here is my thing with Calipari. There is that chace for probation, but the big thing for me is that he already brings in some of the top talent in the county. Yet that top talent has yet to be good enough for him, the best he has done is elite 8's lately which is something that we found out from Tubby is not good enough. So if he came to UK he still would be getting those same players, its not like his recruiting could get better because it is already on the top. So we would be just getting the players he brings in which has only been elite 8. So if we got rid of a guy who elite 8 runs wasn't good enough, I dont want to see us bring in someone else who does the same...
