Even though Clark Co. won today, I am still puzzled at how you don't see playing on your home court is not a home court advantage. :confused: :confused:

This proves the point that if you play the game on the moon the better team will win. When Lofton was at Mason that is all I heard that "Mason has the home court advantage" Mason had the best player and team. Same as today. The game played at the Fieldhouse and Clark had the best player and team today.

I wouldn't stake my life on it....But a pretty good sum of money that it does not matter if it is a legitiment shot or not, if nothing or no one makes contact with the ball and the "shooter" retains possession it is a walk. Where is Ghost for confirmation????

Heres why they did this,There was a lot of confusion going around Maysville because "this party" was totally being set up and done by a group of fans that got way ahead of themself.The school officials wasn't even aware of anything and not involved whats so ever in this.So when this group of fans was trying to get area business to support this and donate to this a lot of the business started calling the school to see what was going on before donating to anything.The school was in the dark on anything going on and after a lot of calls they finally wanted something to be out there to clarify that the School had nothing to do with this and it was a group of fans.Thats why the article was ran.

On Clark County's "upset" ... a slight one at best. Several people in the picks contest, including myself, went with the Cardinals to win the 10th Region.

 

I saw both teams at the 5/3 in December and felt that, once Jones was back from his injury, Clark would be the better of the two teams. Mason was certainly better/more consistent in January and February, but any knowledgable fan knew that Clark had a decent shot to win this game.

 

On Mason's "home court advantage" ... I feel there is one, but it isn't something that can't be overcome from time to time. Clark overcame it today.

Philip, I have been trying to say this very exact thing for many many months on here, therefore I think we are absolutely correct. It doesn't matter where the ball is tossed up, the better team on that day wins the game. The 10th Region Championship was won Sunday by Clark County, who was the better team today, and yes it was won on the Fieldhouse floor against Mason. I can remember a post I made a while back I made concerning whoever wins the 10th Region title outside of Mason County is not worrying about any concern of home court advantage after the game if their team wins.....and that is the case today for Clark County, homecourt advantage is not topic for the Cardinals, the more important topic is they are the champions. My congrats go out to Clark County.

Here's an outsider's take on the "homecourt advantage" in the 10th...

 

At the 11th region tournament at EKU - Scott Co. nor Lex Cath were allowed to take a basketball onto the floor prior to 20 minutes til game time. This rule is in place so that the teams that play the first game of the day do not get extra time to shoot around over the teams that play the later games. Just a few extra minutes shooting on the goals might cause one team to have an advantage over another.

 

I realize that there isn't any other place that is big enough to hold the 10th region tournament - so it should be there (for necessity, not tradition)... but to act like that's not an advantage for Mason is simply denying the truth.

 

GRC being good enough to overcome that advantage today does not mean that there isn't an advantage.

I will start off by saying congrats to GRC great win and I'm sorry to see Mason get beat I really wanted to see a rematch between them and Scott County. BUT it seems like that the Fact that Miller is really the only big threat for Mason finally caught up with them. Knowles equaled Miller and then the better TEAM won the game. But congratulations to both teams on an excellent season.

Anyone who doesnt think home court matters, go look at teams records on the road and at home. I promise you almost every team will have more wins at home then on the road.

Exactly! :thumb: Just because a team loses a game at home doesn't mean there is no longer a home court advantage. Do you ever hear anybody say after UK loses a game at Rupp that they must not of had a home court advantage? Of course not! When you play at home, you have an advantage, doesn't guarantee you a win, but you do have an advantage. Who knows, maybe GRC wins by double digits today on a neutral floor or at their place. Bottom line, GRC was the better team today and they got the W.

I will take as much money as your willing to get rid of!!! This was changed a few years back. If the official's judgement call is that it was a shot, the shooter can be the first to touch the ball,whether it touches anything or anyone.

Were the kids in the first game going to change their shot? If you think a few extra minutes shooting on a goal in March matters, your wrong.
