From Coach Rich Brooks on Twitter this morning in regards to Coach Stoops:

"All time record at Kentucky. Until NIL changed the game. Need to commit more to football or it will be tough to win in the SEC. Some great wins by coach Stoops and big bowl wins!"

That was a world record performance in the time it took to hire a new coach. As much as we blame and applaud coaches it's still all about quality players. With all of the coaching changes the transfer portal will be unbelievable.

The recruiting definitely is a big factor. I like the consistent development we have seen of Hartline’s position players. I like who he has learned from as a player and a coach in regards to running a team and offensively. As he has been with Urban, Day, Chip Kelly was also on staff a year ago. 
 

I think both are good, but I just think Hartline presented a chance to possibly truly knock it out of the park.

Stein doesn't have that around here, and there have been some questions with his recruiting. In a day where a lot of coaches are staying put (Vandy, Indiana, Missouri, Nebraska, etc.), maybe Stein stays with the team he grew up cheering for.

I won’t go this far but he is a Trinity guy and I will be pulling for him to succeed. 

Stein has been a coordinator at the P4 level for two years. Was coaching high school ball in Texas five years ago. There's really no comparison in resume/experience with him and Hartline. 

This is a risky hire IMO. Zero head coaching experience. What other SEC team would hire Stein? He may turn out great but the resume looks below standard to become an SEC head coach. Hopefully UK is ahead of the curve on an up and coming young coach.

Not just the SEC, he hasn't been seriously considered for any other P4 job. 

He may turn out to be a very successful HC, but it's a huge gamble for a team like UK.

Mitch knows he is retiring soon ?  

I think UK football was in a situation where they had to go outside the box.  I think it's a good gamble...but only time will tell.  

UK football is in desperate need of energy...hopefully we get a young staff full of that...!

Of the two, Hartline seems to be the more advanced option. However, with the way Kentucky folded down the stretch, the importance of winning over a bored-to-death fan base, and all the while maintaining donors for NIL and other projects, Stein would certainly seem a worthy risk. If you're considering some of the other names floated around (Mullen, Brent Key, Chesney, Neal Brown), I doubt any of them check all three of the above boxes. Will it work? I guess we shall see...

No way Stein would do that and no way Kentucky would allow that in my opinion.

Stein and his family just landed in Lexington. Barnhart looked like he was on the plane with the Stein family.
