Quarterback Career records stats
Any knowledge of the type of offenses run by these quarterbacks? I think Trinity's offense tries to go vertical too often. I would like to see more of a West Coast offense with slants and yards after catch.

6A RPI Rankings - 2026
The comment that the Out of State (OOS) factor of 0.5610 is supposed to be reviewable piques my interest and leads to my comments. No party should have to ask for a review. The entire model should be reviewed by the KHSAA every season and adjustments need to be made (if necessary), especially to any subjective factors such as OOS or up/down in class factors. I would start with adjusting the model to more accurately reflect the actual results to the expected results - we simple country actuaries (retired) call this Actual to Expected or A to E. Start with 2025 Expected and make adjustments to reflect 2025 Actual. Apply these adjustments to prior years and converge on better subjective factors. Another point is in the past four seasons the team with the higher RPI has won 13 of 24 (54%) championships and when a number one RPI rated team is playing for the championship the number one teams are 8 of 17 (47%). Neither of these percentages would lead me to believe this model has much credibility. Adding to this, 2024 and 2025 are particularly telling in that higher rated teams are 4 of 12 and number ones are 3 of 9 in championship games. In the past two years the higher rated team winning has been 33% and the number one wins 50% for the past three years. As stated above: 1 through 4 rated teams fill the semi-final bracket 91.67% of the time. The model to this point is showing a substantially higher level of credibility, however I would expect the number one team to win more than 8 of 24 championships (17 appearances). I realize the biggest subjective factor in the playoffs is that the teams are composed of teenage boys and things (football and otherwise) that happen in their lives which RPI can never capture. But I would like to see a more robust rating system that is reviewed/updated every year. My suggestions to improve the process are to annually update the model using actual results or use another rating system. Using another rating system would free up resources at the KHSAA to concentrate on other matters but I understand wanting to have more say/control of the process. Using another rating system would require back testing. This would help determine the best system to use.

Trinity #49 in KHSAA RPI Rankings
The green t is subtle and clever.

Trinity 41 St. Xavier (OH) 0
I am very happy to see this. After the 2023 state championship I spoke with Sekou's father and told him I thought Sekou played as well on defense as Zane did on offense.

Trinity 34 Male 0
We sneezed last week. This week Male catches pneumonia... As I remember it, the original quote was about General Motors. I don't remember who it was referring to. I changed it from a cold to pneumonia.

Kentucky to hire Will Stein as new head coach
I won’t go this far but he is a Trinity guy and I will be pulling for him to succeed.

Oh yes he is.

Trinity 64 Madison Central 27
The option is very difficult to defend if you never see it. Madison Central runs it well. Their defense is a different story. We scored at will.

Trinity 56 Great Crossing 0
One of the coaches commented last night that Zane's run took three minutes off the clock.

Trinity vs. Great Crossing Predictions/Updates (11/6)
Kickoff is 730 per Trinity Twitter: ‼️SCHEDULE UPDATE‼️ Trinity’s varsity football playoff game on Friday, Nov. 7 vs. Great Crossing has been adjusted to a 7:30pm kickoff. Gates at Marshall Stadium will now open for fans at 6:00pm. Go Rocks. ☘️?

Trinity 52 Oldham County 3
I was pleased to see Coach Cobb "discuss" the, at best, non-existent defensive pass interference calls. He is way too passive for me.

Trouble on Poplar Level Road?
I realize the Bluegrass Preps crowd is sophisticated, urbane, cosmopolitan, erudite, etc. and my not relate to the following but I think it is applicable. I was watching wresting when Randy "Macho Man" Savage made his WWF debut. Jesse "The Body" Ventura was on the mic singing his praises. Of course, Macho Man was in the ring against a jobber/jabroni. Macho Man grabbed his opponent's head and ran from one turnbuckle to the other rubbing the opponent's head on the top rope the entire length of the rope. Jesse was very impressed and said "that is a move straight outta Jesse "The Body's" book". This is the highest praise. I consider Kevin Wallace announcing his retirement a year in advance is a move "straight outta Jesse "The Body's" book". For the sophisticated crowd I consider Coach Wallace's announcement "princely".

Trinity vs. Saint Xavier Predictions/Updates
Trinity vs St. X. Playoffs ticket update. The initial allotment for digital tickets has sold out. Digital ticket sales are paused until Monday evening after each school has had the opportunity to sell tickets to its students and determine capacity limits after those sales. ☘️? From Trinity Twitter - not calling it X for obvious reasons…

Starting a 529 - What Do I Need to Know?
The Wall Street Journal recently had a very informative 529 article - article date was 5/2. It was withdrawal advice more so than general information, but still good info. The link below is unlocked and hopefully will work. https://www.wsj.com/articles/withdraw-from-529-college-saving-plan-8f217b6a?st=vb1rmos4nyhvd4x&reflink=desktopwebshare_permalink

Trinity 51 Simon Kenton 20
On the ride home, which was not as long as predicted, (we spent more time in the Arby's drive-thru before the game than on the ride home, but my sandwich and drink were tasty, so it was a wash) we noticed a roadside stand selling video games. We stopped for a minute to browse and this particular item caught my eye: I asked the proprietor about this intriguing piece of Americana. He said it was a one-off produced for a mysterious customer known only as MC44 and who never came back for it. I inquired about the price, he mystically stated "to some it is worthless, to others priceless". Some may think the Madden Curse is real. There is a long list at https://www.digitaltrends.com/gaming/what-is-the-madden-curse/ of players that have succumbed to it. You be the judge...

Trinity - 2022 Schedule
The end zones are green in the middle because white lettering made it harder for soccer goalies to visually pick up the ball as it headed towards the goal. The green in the middle end zones offer greater contrast.

Trinity 38 Ryle 18
Stats that were sent to me have Ryle with three penalties (Delay, Offsides, Ineligible) for 15 yards and Trinity with 10 (Holding (5), Encroachment, Delay, Unspecified, PI, and Offsides) penalties for 87 yards. Trinity also had an Unsportsman Like called on the field goal at the end of the second quarter - assessed on the second half kickoff. There were two officiating instances which particularly riled the Trinity faithful: A holding call on a 75 yard TD run by Brady Willis. The casual observer would see this and think "I am not surprised, Trinity had four other holding calls". The issue with this is prior to the play, during a timeout, one of the Ryle coaches had a discussion with not one, not two, but three officials on the field. After the timeout, Brady takes the snap and scores. When Trinity scores on a long run or pass, the experienced (some may say jaded) Trinity fan never celebrates the score until they scan the field for a flag. Sure enough, the yellow cloth of shame. This is not a good look for the officials. It is one thing for a coach to jaw with an official from the sideline, it is another when a coach talks to three officials on the field during a timeout and a flag flies on the next play. What is interesting about this play is that it does not appear in the play-by-play description I received. According to my analysis of the play-by-play I don't believe this holding call is included in the Trinity penalty stats. Where is Earl Warren when you need him? Ryle fumbled a fair catch punt and Trinity recovers. However, one of the officials prematurely blew his whistle - at what point during the play no one knows. The officials gathered and determined the need for a do-over because of the inadvertent whistle. We all understand players stopping at the whistle, what is not understood is how a third round playoff official can blow an early whistle during a punt return. Punts are dropped all the time regardless of if a fair catch is signaled or not. We benefit from having officials, they are out there and I am not. Thanks to Jack H and his source, Todd G, for the stats.

How many teams are still alive with 5th year seniors?
Trinity did not have any. There were some parents expressing concern for their kids having to play against fifth year seniors.

Right now, Beatty retiring per Jody Demling. No other info.
