The Trinity Shamrocks welcome the Warhawks of Great Crossing to Shelbyville Rd. on Friday night for the opening round of the 6A playoffs.

Jay Cobb's Shamrocks, the two-time defending 6A champs, had a bye to end the regular season. Trinity breezed through district play and is unbeaten in the state of Kentucky. 

Great Crossing enters the playoffs on a five-game losing streak and has just one win on the year (55-36 vs Dunbar on Sep. 19th). Senior RB Luke Ballard is an exciting player for them and leads 6A in rushing. 

Running Clock. 

Oh my. 

This game will be a joke.  They really should eliminate the first round of the playoffs.  The top two teams of each district should make the playoffs and the other teams should be done.  It's not good for either team when the running clock starts in the beginning of the 2nd quarter.  Last year's first round game for Trinity vs Southern was just awful for both teams.

Probably late in the 2nd quarter or early in the 3rd quarter.

Also, for purposes of Power Ratings (not RPI, ugh) I think when a team gets to a running clock should be part of the calculation in the ratings.

Riherd's bracket shows this game at 7:30PM and Trinity twitter reflects the kickoff is at 7:00PM.

Those studying Riherd's bracket must keep in mind round three is based on RPI of teams remaining in each half of their bracket.

Trinity’s varsity football playoff game on Friday, Nov. 7 vs. Great Crossing has been adjusted to a 7:30pm kickoff. Gates at Marshall Stadium will now open for fans at 6:00pm.

If GC can run the ball effectively with Ballard….ahh nevermind.

2nd Qtr running clock. Trinity will not punt in this game.

It is listed on the scoreboard as Thursday too.

Kind of surprised GC agreed to this...If I'm the underdog (and I still care about the season) I want to play in conditions best for us to keep it close and advantageous for our offense...I know its quite an uphill climb to come here and win the game, but if you run the ball 75% or more and the forecast is "rain" I'm playing it out...
