@Breds82 I like you but I think your crazy on this one. I do see St. Henry being attractive to more athletes but more does not always equate to better either. Beechwood and CCH will take their quality over quantity. If they "play" football and are fringe basketball players and leave Beechwood or CCH for St. Henry they weren't going to see the field at the other 2 schools.

I really don't see a lot of players leaving a Beechwood/Cov Cath, for St Henry even if it offers them a chance to play more. There are reasons "fringe" athletes enroll at those schools, many of which have nothing to do with playing time. For most, they are well aware it's going to be difficult to play. Most athletes have a pretty good idea of where they stand by the time they get to high school, and if playing time was important to them, they likely would have never went to the elite sports schools to begin with. The ones that do decide to make that move for sports, likely aren't and never will be difference makers.

Either way, I believe St. Henry is welcoming its largest freshman class ever in August. It’s exciting as an alum to watch the impact of football on the school’s growth but nobody is expecting NFL-caliber athletes to start pouring in. Maybe SEC talent but I won’t get greedy. Just happy the Crusaders have a team playing on Friday nights now

As my family and I prepare for our next chapter of life, I want to take a moment to reflect on my past 17 years as your head varsity boy's basketball coach for the Jaguars! The process is a journey of ups and downs that we go through in life while building lasting relationships! I'm thankful every day for that process and I cherish the lasting relationships that we've built!

The Players/Alumni - my guys! Thank you for sacrificing and trusting me to be your coach! It's your program and will always be yours! You are the reason the program is recognized across the state when it comes to playing the right way and having success at the highest level! I am in debt to every one of you!

The Coaching Staff/Former Staff - thank you for putting your faith in me and standing with me in building this great program! Your servanthood and ability to help our young men become the best version of themselves will never go unnoticed in my eyes!

The past 17 years of my life have been some of the most memorable of my life while being your coach! In that time, Andrea and I have created a family of our own that has grown with Elijah, Emory, and Easton! We will always consider you guys our extended family who went thru the process with us! To my entire family, thank you for your sacrifice and your continued love and support from the birth of this program to where it is today!

I am better because of my experience as the Cooper Coach. I am better because of the relationships I was able to form during my time. Again, thank you and continue to trust the process! Go Jags!

Coach Sully

There is a difference between greedy and delusional lol. How much SEC talent has come out of NKY ever? Not saying there hasn't been any, but it's been slim. So to say it starts coming out of St. Henry is ludacris, even though I hope its true. I get what your saying is wishful thinking. But yes I am happy for them also all the way across the board. My father went to St. Henry all the way up to high school and then had to go somewhere else because they didn't have football. I have 2 aunts that graduated from St. Henry and neither them nor my dad were ever able to see a St. Henry football game which I know they would have loved to of been able to. I have 3 step brothers/sisters that are proud and very successful thanks to being St. Henry alumni that are ecstatic about them having football. I have life long friends that are successful proud alumni that support the program. Athletics aside, I always like seeing St. Henry succeed. St. Henry festival was my favorite growing up and they need to bring that back. I always root for St. Henry in athletics whether they are successful at the time or not. I was the first person on BGP to state that the football team would benefit from Sully. But there is also levels to it and that I am realistic about. I hope Sully puts at least 10-15+ years in at St. Henry and we will all be able to reminisce about how great it was. To think "star" athletes are going to start raining in on St. Henry on a regular basis is a stretch though. Again being realistic your looking at 50-100 years of a cycle that has to be over come. If he spends 15 years at St. Henry and wins 2 ninth region titles that would be successful correct? I think its more likely he may spend 15 years there and won't win 1... and it could still be called a success.

I’m pretty sure the SEC talent was said in jest.

Sully will be successful at SH. Probably not to the levels of Cooper but a success nonetheless the less.

Coach Sully

I like how Sullivan repeatedly says "our" in this post. Shows how connected he was, still is, and may always be to the school.

Justin Holthaus is their only hope.  Sure, the opening will probably get some pretty decent attention and even good applicants, but it won't be the same.  Cooper had established greatness and instead chose to be milquetoast.  Will take years to re-establish, if ever... look at the Ryle hoops program.  Even if some of the current kids stick around, the pipeline kids at Bally and Camp Ernst will flee to Ryle, St. Henry, Conner or CovCath.

Considering the fact that Sully only needs 7 or 8 more years in the KTRS retirement system to retire with the maximum benefits from the state, I can't help but wonder if he doesn't bounce from St. Henry as soon as a decent public school job opens up elsewhere in NKY. I could see Holmes, Scott, Simon Kenton, Ryle, Dixie Heights, and Campbell County all as perfectly viable options for him, especially since his wife Andrea is already teaching and coaching at Scott. Scott, Simon Kenton and Campbell County all also give him the opportunity to move out of the 9th Region and see what he can do in the 8th or 10th.

I think heading back to Cooper is less likely, but supposing Mike Wilson moves on from Cooper and the basketball job were to come back open there, maybe we'd see that happen too. Realistically speaking though, I just don't really see how St. Henry would have been able to make any kind of contractual provision that would make up for the amount of money that would be offered in retirement to Sully through KTRS once he is at his full tenure in the system, so the way I see it Sully still has significant reason to want to get himself back into a public school job.

Still wondering if he has finalized where he will teach next year.  Sure hope he has found a new classroom away from Cooper (where the toxic daily exposure to the principal is too raw to allow Sully to fully move on.  Not to even mention the scheduling conflicts that could be created in a non-cooperative environment).  Just healthier for Sully to accept the defeat and move on.

Interesting points.

Do we have any indication where Coach Sullivan is going to be teaching next year?

I know Brossart had Coach Wiggins as head football coach for years while he was teaching in the Newport Independent system, but there aren't any schools that jump to mind with head basketball coaches that weren't working in their school system. Is there much/any precedent for that around the state?
