Also interesting (to me, at least) if Coach Sullivan won't be working in the school system, then that means neither the head basketball basketball nor the head football coach are working "in the halls" at St. Henry, correct?

Mike Code was head basketball coach at Brossart for years (like 16 years) and never taught at Brossart.

Ironically - he teaches there now.

I know Brossart had Coach Wiggins as head football coach for years while he was teaching in the Newport Independent system, but there aren't any schools that jump to mind with head basketball coaches that weren't working in their school system. Is there much/any precedent for that around the state?

I’d say it happens more than we think, especially with private schools.

Same with Scott Code when he was at Brossart. He was teaching at Dixie Heights.

It can work if all parties want it to work.  No chance of working if one of the stakeholders doesn’t want it to work.

It always felt strange to me having a teacher coach at a different school. Just figuratively speaking, say Sully taught at Boone County and coached at St. Henry. If your the boys basketball coach at Boone County and Sully is teaching there wouldn't it be hard to not constantly be looking over your shoulder? And then you have the chance that a coach at another school pretty much knows the inside and out of your program.

Just saying if Sully keeps his teaching role at Cooper and then tries to balance that role with coaching at St. Henry, I would suspect there could be one stakeholder that would not want it to work.

This young man & his Mom made the drive to Pikeville this morning for a QB workout and he did a nice job. Only an 8th grader. Left Union at 5 am. Both sports…. There is a lot of excitement at St. Henry right now. ?

I understand what you are saying. My point was that for any relationship to work, both parties have to be interested in making it work. Once one loses that interest, typically the relationship ends. And if the interest wasn't there to begin with, the relationship would never have started.

Your post pretty much summarizes what appears to have happened.  Now Sully needs to put himself in a teaching position that will accommodate the flexibility head coaches need when coaching at a different school than they teach.  Evidence would not suspect Cooper adm being the least bit accommodating to him.

I don't know if it is simply rumors at this point, but I was told Coach Sully will not be returning to Cooper in any capacity next year. If this is true, it is a smart move in my opinion. He can find a job anywhere that doesn't interrupt his retirement and he doesn't have to work somewhere that his boss doesn't like him.
