St. Henry names Tim Sullivan head basketball coach

If I am Sully ( which I'm obviously not lol ), I try to schedule that game at Cooper. Go into Cooper and take the L with their heads held high and use it for motivation for years to come.

An obvious home run hire for St. Henry's basketball program. The dude can flat out coach and win!

I can think of more than a few families that've traditionally been "CCH families" that have virtually washed their hands of the school thanks to Ruthsatz and company who would be more than happy to ha

We played Paris twice when I was at Mason. It had been over 10 years since I had left and no bad blood... all my choosing.

We did so to help them get a bowl game and make some money to help the Greyhounds. It hit me like a ton of bricks. I hated it and just wanted to get the game over with.

I will never play a former team if I can help it. The one exception may be Mercer, eventually, just because it is right next to Anderson. But, I really don't want to play them, Mason or Paris. And, none of them were bad endings. Not sure I have a great answer of why I hate playing my old teams, but I do. My best guess... leaving all 3 ripped my guts out and I hate reliving those emotions and memories.

For Cooper & St. Henry, the more they can move forward, apart, the better for both. Any Cooper / St. Henry match up will be made about Sully. That is not fair to him or the kids. And, that would not be my preference. I would want my focus on the present and making my team better. Not rehashing a great run that had a negative ending.

I wish both programs the very best. Like I tell my own players, my time was 1982(even though I wasn't that good). This is their time.

Well when you put it all logically and stuff like that from a first hand experience point of view....never mind cancel it lol. But yeah I totally get it. No one at St. Henry gives a darn about Cooper. It's Sully and the Cru now that's all that matters.

I agree.

Do you think St. Henry and Cooper play this year in basketball?

Out of curiosity I looked up their history against each other. Cooper opened in 2008-09 and they've played regular season games against St. Henry every year except 2017-18 and 2020-21. Incidentally, it has been close throughout with Cooper leading 11-8. Based on history, not playing would certainly be against the norm, although it certainly would make sense based on the situation.

He's the basketball coach at St. Henry. Doesn't mean he is teaching there.

I was assuming Sully would be leaving Cooper after having such a row with the principal. That didn't seem like it would make a very great work environment for him to remain on teaching there, especially as head coach of a basketball program competing in the same region. I was unaware that he had taken a teaching job at Scott, so knowing that makes a lot more sense if that is the case.

What kind of stipend is St. Henry offering for head coaches these days? How does their stipend compare to head coaches' stipends offered by public schools in the area? I was of the impression that in the last decade the diocese had done some work to try to get stipends for major sports regulated across the diocese. It's been a while since I had any direct knowledge of that from the inside of any diocesan school, but I was also of the impression that boosters are not currently permitted to offer supplementary money to pay coaches.

Obviously at St. Henry Sully will be operating without geographic constraints in terms of where he can draw his players from so that is certainly an advantage of the St. Henry job. I'm still curious to know if there are any additional advantages at St. Henry to keep him there if a public school job comes open elsewhere in northern Kentucky where he would have the advantage of being in the school building during the day with his players in addition to his time on the court with them.

That's a great series right there based off the numbers. So the gap isn't quite as big as assumed.

Your time was 1982.
I peaked at 16.

How is summer ball looking for The Cru???

I heard they struggled in a scrimmage.

I haven't seen or heard anything about where or who they have been playing. Wanted to go see them in action regardless of what they look like right now. Sully is probably more entertaining to watch coach up a team that really needs his direction than a team that's at the top of their game. Especially during summer when he can experiment with all different types of things to find out alot about his new team.

Who was this scrimmage against? Was it kind of like the rest of summer ball game set ups or a controlled scrimmage?
