Pretty cool picture and probably a pretty awesome feeling for Sully and players last night. No spoiler alert here: I am sure this one was just a little sweeter for him! But, of course, he makes the moment about the players!

We did keep an eye on the principal after the game.  He stayed off the court away from the team taking pictures on his phone.  We didn't see him walk onto the court to congratulate anyone as it looked like he was keeping his distance.  We left when they were getting ready to cut down the nets, so not sure if he came onto the floor after that.

That was a smart move and in best interest of all involved.

Not saying principal not having interest in sports has anything to do with non-renewal, just saying he could win state and decision wouldn't change. Principal doesn't care about W's & L's, he's based his decision about the "culture" of the school and how he views the basketball players, specifically those that have moved into the district, have negatively impacted that "culture".

I agree with your comment, Sully could win state and the decision would stand, unfortunately.  However, Sully, to my knowledge, has no real control on who moves into or out of the district. I understand families move into and out of districts in hopes to play for, or in some cases, not play for a particular coach/team, etc. How in the world is this Sully’s fault? His players and the program as a whole, seem to be locked in and disciplined, on and off the court. So sad for the Sullivan’s, the players and the community!

This is just another example on why it’s getting harder and harder to keep good people in the Coaching profession.

Same with referees.

 

Sully has to be a solid teammate when his whole career has been getting young men buying into being part of a whole that is greater than the sum of its’ parts.  This is done by each player doing their part and being great teammates first and foremost.  Public side of the culture war seems to be 100% supportive of Sully as a man, a coach and how he does his job.  I cannot believe two professionals cannot find common ground to make this relationship work for the best interest of the young men and women seeing this play out.

This is 100% correct.  If he was being let go for inappropriate behavior, he would already be gone.  This is 100% relational in nature and thus could be worked out if both sides would check their egos at the door and figure it out.

If I were the Superintendent of schools...this would be my mandate and I would be the mediator!  At the end of the day, the Super has final say in any personnel move!

From what I have heard, the super supports the principal's decision. Coach Sullivan had a meeting with the superintendent and there has been no change in the status of his coaching employment. If the superintendent is supporting this decision, it tells me that there may be more to this than the general public knows about.

This makes a lot of sense to me and there almost has to be more to this than the general public knows about.

It also tells me Coach Sullivan doesn't want to reveal what "the more may be" and I find that suspicious. 

Add all that to the fact Coach Sullivan actively sought out other jobs last year and what you have is the AD, the Principal, the Super, (even coach himself last year) all wanting Sullivan out and Sullivan (and his wife on Facebook) offering nothing of substance in his defense.
