15 games and July to December is a lot to ask of high school kids. Shorting the season by shorting the playoff a week would be good. Get it done Thanksgiving weekend

Only 12 teams playing until December, over half will be done by the first weekend of November. Trust me, those kids playing in late November wouldn't want to be doing anything else.

There were playoff beat downs in the old 4 class system, there are first round beat downs in every state every season.

I get that, but then you add in Male. Prior to six classes, at least one and sometimes both teams in the large class were always from Louisville. That is less likely to happen with six classes, and I think it was a factor. 

Play where you live or go to private school. And have extremely strict rules for tuition “students”.  Draw district maps for every public primary, middle and high school. Redraw them every 10 years based on population migration, and you play where you fall. With exceptions for students who are affected by the district changes.

There have been Louisville on Louisville finals as more in 6A on average than the old 4A.

In 4A from 75 to 06, 30 teams from outside Jefferson County made the finals...so about 1 per year on average.

Since 6A started from 07 to 23, only 9 teams from outside of Jefferson County have made the finals...so 9 in 17 years or about 1 every 2 years on average.

Upon further review, once things changed in 97 and Louisville schools could meet in the finals...it was Lou on Lou 6 times in 10 years.

Wait a minute, is that a valid statistic considering for a long time the "At Large Champs" were guaranteed a place in the finals?

Just looking at all the finals since 75 on the KHSAA page.

Looks like 97 is when Louisville on Louisville finals were possible.

I would change the name of postseason play. I would not call it playoffs. I would call it a post season tournament. Playoffs make people think the number of teams are limited, and there is a qualification required. Post season tournament can be structured any way the organizer chooses, and any number of teams can be invited.

In KHSAA football we have a post season tournament.

I think another consideration for the KHSAA should be the inclusion of Artificial Intelligence starting with what @common_sense_eagle has been working on:

 

Intelligence (artificial or otherwise) has rarely been used when it comes to things like this in the KHSAA.

Play clock in all stadiums.

Nothing worse than playing a team without one when it's a lesser talented team. They'll run a play a minute.
