Open Job: Garrard County

Ryan Young was the best coach they've had in a while at Garrard. Playing in that district is a hard sale to anyone I'm sure.

I mean not really, they have teams that can compete in the district most years. Keep Boyle from taking your kids year in and year out and this years season looks a lot different. ? Kasey will suc

  • They tried everything they could do to keep Quisenberry in the past (he coached every sports team he played on), and still chose to leave to greener pastures.  I don't think hiring a dad is the play.

Is Coach Mckinney from Danville in play here?  They lose a big SR class, and already 2 returning starters to crosstown Boyle Co...

I don't see why McKinney would want to go somewhere else at this point.  He's been coaching the Ads in his second stint since 2014.

I was more or less trying to guess the coach "with plenty of wins under their belt" from a previous post.  No scoop, but he is retired and it would be a short trek from Danville...

Now the 2nd time I’ve heard the same name for this job: Brandon Bargo.

Heard only good things about him, hope to see it work out. Seems like a no brainer.

This job posting was up yesterday, should be some action around this one anytime now.

Lincoln girls job has been taken. You can see my post thread in the other forum. I believe Garrard plans to hire a coach by the time school let's out. Interviews started at the beginning of the week. Hearing 3 well qualified candidates. Evidently around 10 total applicants.

Who are the 3?

Who is getting the LC girls job?

Hearing two interviews going on today and that Kasey McRay is the leader in the clubhouse. We will see what the final call is very soon, I believe!

Sadly, true. Only four ever:

  • Dale Moore (1964-70; 1986-87)
  • Wade Upchurch (1973-80)
  • Dave McDaniel (1987-90; 1994-97)
  • Cecil Combs (1997-2004)

Cecil Combs was a fantastic coach, those were some of the best years of Garrard County basketball.

Yes, Combs did a very nice job. That first round district loss to Mercer in 2000 still stings. A .500-ish Mercer team beat one of the better teams Garrard had in the first round of the district then went on to make the state tournament. Combs did win two district titles before moving into administration at Berea and later in Lexington.
