We had some very loud storms in NKY in the early morning of 1-12

Woke me up out of a deep sleep twice.  One of the booms was very close because it rattled everything.

Yep, and impressive downpours too. 

My basement only gets a bit of water during hard rains. I think I've had it more in the last 12 months than I have in our entire time at the home.

I am so glad that I have the Fox19 weather app.  It was kind enough to send me a text that said "Lightning detected 24.0 miles from your location".  I feel so safe now.😀

One more thing I noticed out on my walk today was the clouds moving almost due south.  I don't see that very often but I bet it is going to get colder.

Several rounds of thunderstorms moved across southern Indiana and central Kentucky during the morning hours on January 12, 2023 as a surface low trekked through the Ohio Valley. Storms initially moved into the area shortly after 4 AM EST and continued into the early afternoon hours. Overall, damaging straight-line winds, hail, and several brief tornadoes were observed with the storms.

It has been confirmed that the damage in Madison County was a EF-1 tornado.
