I have never heard of this, I didn't even know you could but at halftime Conner ask for the 2nd half to only be 6 minutes each with a running clock.

I’ve heard of that happening in similar situations before. Not often, but it’s happened.

If that's not cold hard proof that Kentucky's "let everyone in" playoff system sucks, I don't know what is.

Have had that occur in games I have worked, especially before the running clock.

Totally agree. I believe 35-40 games wound up with running clocks. With six classes take the top 2. In basketball if you lose in the district you should be finished. Six classes, 16 teams means about half of the teams make the playoffs. For years the second and third rounds have produced some exceptional football. That would be where we would start.

Agreed. However, that’s the thing with this example at least. Conner wasn’t just let in like most teams in the playoffs. They had to actually make the playoffs, since their district is 5 teams. Their win against Boone, allowed them to make the playoffs while Boone stayed at home for the playoffs.

In basketball every team makes it to the district tournament. This is the equivalent. 

It is so, so simple everyone. Let teams opt out of round one.
