Agreed. However, that’s the thing with this example at least. Conner wasn’t just let in like most teams in the playoffs. They had to actually make the playoffs, since their district is 5 teams. Their win against Boone, allowed them to make the playoffs while Boone stayed at home for the playoffs. 
 

 

I wouldn’t call it “earning” a playoff spot. They beat Boone. But I get what you mean. Conner finished 2-9 beating Boone County by 3 and Scott by 1. Head coach Dave Trosper currently sits 98-90 in his time at Conner.

Totally different sports and concept. Basketball has no classes and no one drives 150-300 miles to get clobbered. Basketball also has a running clock I believe.
