If what is being said is true, the school made the right decision.

1) touching a student

        A) sexual

        B) non-sexual

2) relations with a subordinate 

3) theft

Exactly right. It's just February. At most schools, many of the who's who either are or at least should be playing multiple sports & if they are able to lift during the school day even better. For those that aren't playing other sports? Lift (and, sprint if you aren't already doing track). Eat, then eat some more, then eat some more. Sleep and then sleep. Then eat and eat some more, then lift.

Realizing I might get crucified by this, which is fine, but there hasn't been a game won or lost yet due to 10 Spring Practices in March or April. 

Takes something pretty dramatic to be let go 2x in 3 months time.

Word around the water cooler in my neck of the woods was that the school was getting complaints about Atchley having meltdowns in class while he was teaching and parents were complaining about profanity laced tirades their kids were being subjected to. Was told he was placed on probation and the blowups continued so he was let get as a teacher which resulted in his dismissal as a coach. I've heard that from a couple of different people and they both have good reason for the info to be reliable.

If that's truly the case should that make a guy un-hirable? I don't know if I'd go that far. Would it possibly make it harder for someone to find a job in the immediate after being dismissed mid year for something like that? Seems possible.

Pretty embarrassing by Fayette Co Schools that this wasn't all sorted out before they announced the hire. Last I heard asking for references is a standard operating procedure in most situations when you're hiring new personnel. I'm curious what administrator was like, "Oh, you were teaching and coaching in October and now it's 3 months later and the same school year and you're unemployed. That doesn't seem curious at all. Definitely not worth me making a phone call to your old school to look into the situation."

I agree with most of what you're saying, but I will also offer this angle. 

Seeing that these schools are over an hour apart, different Regions & rarely come in contact with one another, it can also be questioned if the Bullitt East was on the up & up with "full disclosure" on these events or did they just want rid of him so bad that they gave him the blessing  & once he was hired, then the skeletons began to come out of the woodwork & Lafayette sent it to the replay booth, more info came to the surface & that caused Lafayette to have to do a 180 & reconsider their offer.  

Not everyone wants to give all the info, sometimes they just want rid of a person at the expense of the receiving school, I've had it happen before as well & it definitely wasn't an enjoyable experience.

This is exactly what happened, there is also a video floating around of one of these outbursts where he calls a student an expletive, and proceeds to scream and yell for 15-30 seconds. This video was sent anonymously to FCPS and they did an internal review before deciding nixing him was the best option.

Most of the time in the “real world” on a job reference. The former employer can only state that the employee worked there. Not any conduct questions or why they were relived of there duties. But you all know as well as I, people have connections, and people love to talk. Also if the don’t have connections, they are probably not great at there job.

Was this in his teaching role or his coaching role?  Not that it should matter...but!

Just as another coach and human being, could we please quit speculating on why Coach Atchley is no longer at Bullitt East?

I wish Ethan and Lafayette the best, whether he is the coach or not.

Bullitt East did nothing wrong.  Coach Atchley's employment was terminated at Bullitt East prior to any acceptance of employment with FCPS or Lafayette so to say "did they just want to rid of him so bad that they gave him the blessing..." is absolutely incorrect.  People can speculate all they want, which to me is childish and irresponsible.  The fact is Coach Atchley isn't the coach at Bullitt East, Keegan Kendrick is and he will do a fine job.  We are lucky to have him.  I hope Coach Atchley eventually does land on his feet again.  He has some things to work on, but I believe he has a lot to offer kids and he has a great family so I wish him well and nothing but the best in the future.

Personally, I think cussing is unnecessary. But, when these kids and a lot of others today think half the words in the English language start with f, I get your point.
