It is now back open.

What happened with this job?

I hate to hear this. Atchley would have been a big boost for that program. Something doesn't pass the smell test on how this all went down.

Are you hearing there have been new developments since whatever it was that precipitated the job being re-posted on January 28th?

So, is it open or are they just doing the reposting for clerical corrections, and Atchley is their guy?

I have heard that he is not the head football coach at Lafayette. I have not heard a reason as to why he is not going to be the coach moving forward.

As of the end of January, my understanding was that it was basically just a clerical correction and Coach Atchley was their guy.

I hadn't heard anything further, but based on what @Big Things Kentucky and @BEChargers posted, it sounds like they're saying Atchley is no longer going to be the head coach at Lafayette. I'd need one of them to clarify that info, though.

I think some things came to light from his time at BE, from what I have heard. 

I hope Ethan Atchley comes out on the good end of this stuff. Whatever it is.

I completely agree with this! He should’ve got the Tates Creek job, he would be a good fit for Lafayette. 

Fields name seems to get brought up as a leading candidate for several jobs the last 2-3  years.

I think more importantly, hopefully the kids come out of this with someone that is going to be a good role model. Looks like Lafayette may have dodged a bullet there.

I can tell you one thing, kids are not coming out on top right now, no coach, a fumbling hire, and no end in sight!

Maybe not right now, but it is just February.  The end is not far off and they will be ok with the right person-  a good role model and teacher.

Something is just odd, he was let go kind of out of the blue at BE.  You kind of wonder what the deal is. I like to think the best of people. But this make you wonder if Lafayette did not do there due diligence with his dismissal at BE. Where there is smoke there is fire.   

Sounds like someone higher on the food chain didn't like the hire and flexed their muscle after the fact. Par for the course in Fayette Co, can't get out of their own way.

You may be right, but I also think they had no choice but to flex their muscle. From what I have heard, this was a no-brainer and a dodged bullet for the school.
