A fair statement?

I think that's true for a lot of head coaching gigs simply because fans and owners alike have little patience.  Additionally, a new coach is usually walking into a position because the situation wasn't desirable for his predecessor.

 I believe the opposite is true and that is the purpose of this lawsuit. The Rooney Rule has actually failed and needs to be improved or upgraded, not eliminated.

How do you improve it?  Do you say it has to be a serious interview?  Will anything the NFL does here matter?  

As for the point that black coaches are only getting hired into "no win" situations....

I would argue that there is no such thing as an open coaching job that ISN'T a "no-win".  

Bear with me here for a minute, because, of course, that is a bit of an exaggeration, but still, consider the following question:

Who's in more of a no-win situation?   A guy like Flores, who takes over a bottom-dwelling loser, or a guy like Tomlin, who took over the defending Super Bowl Champs?

If any of the allegations are true, Flores has a real point.   If the Giants, for example, had already decided on a coach before even interviewing Flores - doing so just to meet the NFL's requirements - then that is a sad state of affairs.

The problem is the backside of the coin....now, if I own a team and I have a head coaching vacancy, are you telling me that I must hire a black coach, simply because of the paucity of black head coaches?    If so, that's also a problem - and it's no better than the first because it's the SAME PROBLEM.

Here is another thing we know. Brian Flores should still be coaching the Dolphins.

69% of NFL players are black

35% of NFL coaches are black

If we use the lower number of 35%, there should be at least 11 black head coaches. Currently there is 1 black head coach.

What percent of the owners are black?

The NFL issued a memo saying they would seriously look at the allegations and the process.  Does anyone really trust anything the NFL puts in a memo?  Everyone knows any real evidence of wrong doing will end up in an incinerator someplace.
