Open Job: Lincoln County

I personally think the community for the most part is “Rogers or bust” and I can’t disagree with their mindset. I think Foley would be fine as the head man, but my only question is, if you hire him, how long does he stay? Rogers would be there for as long as Lincoln allowed him to be.

And if Foley doesn't keep Rogers or Cooper, then you're looking at a complete start over situation.

I'm not saying Foley wouldn't keep them, as a matter of fact, both are proven coaches and I think it would be wise to keep both. Just my opinion. But if they both leave, then Lincoln Football will not look the same going forward as it has the last 4 years.
For a team coming off a District Runner Up and a 6-6 record, it will be hard to justify starting over completely.

Until the football program is given the same attention as the basketball program it will always play second fiddle.

  • I am not a candidate for the Lincoln County job. But, if @Mr.Network accepts the head coaching position, and @theguru is on staff, I will commit to setting up the pylons before the game.  According to

  • I think there is a pretty wide gulf between the jobs that people connect to Josh and those he actually applies for.  Not saying that is the case here, but he doesn't apply or go after a lot of the job

I think that’s going to be the issue, Cooper may stay if Foley gets it. I do know for a fact Rogers is gone if he’s not hired. More than likely to Garrard County. Or if it’s another head coaching job opening. It’s going to be an interesting few weeks to come.

This jobs is going to Josh Jaggers if he wants it. End of discussion!

Agreed.

Mark Scenters is a good hire too, he’s good at developing kids, he did it at Garrard County, they had some of the best years of football during his tenure, where ever he ends up next he won’t leave, unless fired. He only left Garrard to come back home, and I’d say he regrets it badly now.

Also if Scenters is hired I think their is a good possibility Rogers stays on, he was on staff at Garrard with him so they know eachother well.

When will this decision be made? The suspense is about to get me!

Regardless of what others say, nobody has any idea besides the administration. The speculation is getting bad, I will say that. I reach out to my friends in Stanford once a day and they don't have any answers right now.

There isn’t really any need to rush this on their end.  It’s just the middle of January.  Winter storms and shutting schools down since Christmas break have almost been as sure as the sun rising in the East and setting in the West , and that trend doesn’t look to get any better , this week or in the extended forecast. Nothing has been lost.   Plenty of schools make hires in late spring and over the summer & all falls into place.  Rushing the hiring process in January for the sake of just naming a coach isn’t needed. Quite honesty, it won’t make one ounce of difference this week, next week or the week after.  It’ll all work out whomever it is.

Dates of a hire don’t determine success or not, like most instances, it’s who has more dudes.

For the assistants on the staff the timing matters greatly. Allows them to pursue other jobs instead of being rushed or forced into taking something.

Then I’d go pursue other jobs regardless. Bird in the hand….

This is bad messaging. Especially to the kids. Both assistants are running the weight program and have yet to hear about the current job opening.

Both are qualified coaches and could find other opportunities. So, Lincoln either needs to name one of them the HC, or, be up front with them so they can pursue what's best for them. This job hasn't been handled the same as others in surrounding counties.

It’s not.  It’s reality.  I don’t know of any head coaches out there that will tell you they didn’t look for other first time head coaching jobs before they had one guaranteed, signed, sealed and delivered even if the opening at their school coincided with others that were open.

Like what surrounding counties? Garrard? Madison Southern? Montgomery? Clark resigned at Madison Southern at the end of October, and Payne was hired right before Christmas Break.

Montgomery? Same kind of time line in terms of weeks

Campbell County (not in the “area”) might have taken longer than any to date than anyone and they made one heck of a hire IMO just this week.

Garrard? I’ll give that one to you, but I’d argue that most would say that firings of the former coach also wasn’t handled like most would, either.

None of them had the opening right before the two week break from Christmas, either.

Manual might be the best job in the state right now and theirs has been posted since the first part of December.

Hopkinsville might be the next best household name job open right now didn’t even post their job until after Christmas Break even though Craig Clayton retired the last week of Christmas break and theirs will be posted until the first of February.

What we like to call when you transfer to Boyle county! Buying a championship.

Well, you do have to pay a price to win a championship...the price is called hard work.
