High School Football novice here, but this result surprised me big-time.  Heck of a win for the Birds.

Saw a coach do that in a midgets game back in the 80s so it's not rocket science. Percentage play. Worked out for Highlands.

We constantly hear reload not rebuild all the time with BG. Sometimes there are years, even for the best teams in every classification, where they have a questionable game or two lost. 
 

Highlands was better tonight. It’s not a good look for the Purps to lose this game but there are a few plays that are glaring to me that if corrected the outcome would be different. It’s week one and plenty of season to get right. Onward. 

I was told two weeks ago that this was one of the least deep Bowling Green teams in years.

For BG, I’ll just say I’m disappointed and personnel changes are necessary.  And if not, it could be a really long year for. Bowling Green. 

Completely agree. Very disappointing on all levels. The fear most of us had is true. Changes are obvious and necessary. 

 

Sometimes BG can be very stubborn in those decisions. Hopefully they don't wait until the season is disastrous

BG also had a couple of mind boggling offensive calls at the end. 

BG should be proud they didn't give up. I believe they were down 21-3 at one point.

I thought BGs running back looked good. As well as their main wide receiver. BG defense held Highlands to no scores in second half. BG run defense was really tough.

Defense was really impressive. Pursuit to the ball was what impressed me the most. 

Two Ds that have been missing for a long time, Defense and Discipline. Got to have both to Win and Highlands had both tonight. 
 

Build on this win Birds and improve every week and great things will happen.

BG's defense was definitely not the issue. Although they never did get much pressure on the Highlands QB which was a problem.

But you're right. Take away that pump fake play that was the long TD pass and the one interception that handed Highlands a TD and it's a different game.

Been MIA for several years . Kind of a “If you can’t say something nice don’t say anything at all kind of guy”. Went to game just hoping for a competitive outing by the Birds but felt they’d probably lose badly. Saw a team that was disciplined, tackled well in space and had a solid game plan and play calling in general. Truly excited for these boys . They have bought in and deserve it . Thought it would take a few years to right the ship . Congrats to all involved. Full strength team will be a lot of fun to watch!

Not saying it is not, but call would not have been made over last several years.

Congrats Highlands!! Is this the biggest win in a few years?

It was a really dumb call. Jaw dropping dumb. None of us or any body in our section could believe it.  BG had a great chance for a game tying field goal at the end because of it too. Just a really bad offensive play call gave up an interception instead.
