I know it's just one game, but I'm really diggin' Sphire's Bluebirds. They looked strong and fit and prepared, defensively. To beat the defending champs in week one.... and they should only improve from here.

Charlie Noon, the starting QB, was ruled out about a week ago today for exposure to covid. He should be back mid next week. Not sure if he will play against SK or not. Really proud of Brody Benke for stepping up and handling things pretty well as a sophomore. Really bright future for him.

For BG, I’ll just say I’m disappointed and personnel changes are necessary.  And if not, it could be a really long year for. Bowling Green.

Thank you for your response. I’m sorry to hear about Noon, but let me tell you, I thought Benke did an admirable job and is a very nice athlete. He looked poised and it clearly had a ripple effect with his guys.

I couldn't agree more. Benke is the real deal. Him and Noon on the field at the same time will be special. Hopefully, Cam Gielser gets cleared soon and the HHS offense could pose major issues to defenses in NKY and the state. Excited about where things are headed. Go Birds!

I was thinking about that. Highlands is at least vastly improved. To go on the road to reigning state champions without your starting QB. first game for new coach. Big change from 2020. 
 

Defense was really impressive. Pursuit to the ball was what impressed me the most.

I think you’ve got the full picture here. 
Where I stand, I’m not sure how deep the Purples are currently.

We constantly hear reload not rebuild all the time with BG. Sometimes there are years, even for the best teams in every classification, where they have a questionable game or two lost. 
 

Highlands was better tonight. It’s not a good look for the Purps to lose this game but there are a few plays that are glaring to me that if corrected the outcome would be different. It’s week one and plenty of season to get right. Onward.
