I don't understand why they want to do another survey in such a short time period. Seems like they would trust their own survey / results. 

 

Because they don’t want to really do it. They want to do their own thing. Same reason why they jammed it through immediately the last time but this time they decided they needed to take time to evaluate and implement. This is classic KHSAA. 

I really hope they decide to use the data from less than a year ago.  They did this last year, and we were very appreciative that they did so. Thank you!

I love it. going back to the way it was. Gives the kids an extra game if they can get by the first round and should make a lot better first round games instead of blowouts.

Is there a place to see the "Sister Districts" as they were in the past? Will they change if this is passed or use the same alignment as in previous years?

The best place to look is on this alignment link. Typically sister districts are 1-2, 3-4, 5-6, and 7-8. However, the KHSAA has at times rotated sister districts where District 1 plays District 4, an so on.

So by using sister districts, RPI would only be used in 4th Round??

I believe the indication was they’d still do an East/west divide for round three with RPI as the measuring stick. Perhaps @ChiefSmoke could clarify…

I am real interested in this one too, @ChiefSmoke?

RPI would be used third round on. So essentially if you’re in a loaded district you could both make it to the third round then not have to play each other.

Would use RPI in 3rd round most likely since will be down to 4 teams in East and 4 in West.

I think in sister district format that St. X and Male district will be paired together so 2nd round will be big time game.

KHSAA survey, 64% of schools voted to stop playing teams within their districts in first rounds of football playoffs starting in 2022. Current rules call for change to be made in 2023. Vote comes this afternoon, but looks like change will be made for this coming season.
