With the RPI system in place starting in the regional, it has always made far more sense to cross district if the goal was to get the best 8 teams into the regional round. You can now have two teams from the same district playing for a State Title depending on the RPI numbers working out.

Winners will be districts with 2/3 strong teams.  Losers will be weak districts.  

This year would have seen Lex Cath get the opportunity to make a deeper run.

LCA, Somerset, Danville district will probably benefit, while the cross district to them will not...

Same could probably be said for CAL, Desales and Mercer the last couple of years.
