Pike Central has a nice gym.

Mason County deserves all the love it has received. Really enjoyed playing there way back when.

Betsy Layne was always one of the most unique gyms. Mini Epcot. Not necessarily a nice gym but unique.

Feds Creek was the weirdest gym I ever played at back when it still existed. Seated maybe 400 people but  had two levels on each sideline. One end line had a stage and the other a block wall. There was NO room. If you dove for a loose ball you hit something or someone.

If you attended a game at the Augusta gym in the late '70s, good chance you saw this guy coming off the bench ~

Man that new one at GRC is very impressive.

Good call on Western Hills, as it also has a domed wood fascia ceiling and rafters, and seating "in the round." 

The Wolverines' "Lapsley Cardwell Gymnasium" - named after James Lapsley Cardwell, former teacher and coach at the old Bridgeport HS in Franklin County.

Might just be my opinion but I watched a game at Grant County this year and I thought it was a pretty cool gym and good place to watch a game at. They also have a great student section that makes the game a lot more entertaining.

They have one of my favorite gym oddities, the guys who pull the leather chairs on rollers out of the AD's office and sit down near the baseline and watch the game.  Cracks me up every time, like we are playing in their living room.  I LOVE games at Grant County.

I did notice that when I was there. I watched them play SK this year and it was a packed house with a great atmosphere.

It's a really nice design with a lot of SRO area.  The people there are as nice as you will find and are basketball passionate.  

The Courier-Journal currently has a poll asking which is Kentucky's best high school gym to watch basketball. Their voting options are:

Augusta – Panthers Den

Central High School – Central Gymnasium

George Rogers Clark – GRC Arena

Henry County – Roy Winchester Arena

Marion County – Roby Dome

Marshall County – Reed Conder Memorial

Mason County – Mason County Fieldhouse

Valley – J.C Cantrell Gymnasium

Currently Marshall County is in the lead with 33% of the votes. The CJ's poll closes on Tuesday, Dec 18th at 6:00pm. Winner to be announced the following day.

Any of those have seat backs all around? 
 

The Den is cool and the Roy is untouchable for two or three games per season, but those wooden bleachers don’t do my aging body any favors.

It's tough getting old, ain't it?

 

The Panther's Den and the Fieldhouse are at the top for me...so many memories.

David M .Evans field house at Holmes, lots of great players have been on that floor, I also enjoy Henry County's gym.

In my opinion George Rogers Clark's is the best high school gym in the state, as are their other sports facilities, just ask GRC fans. Their football facilities are even better, seriously.  I know that Marshall County's gym is excellent as well. But its hard to beat the Mason County Fieldhouse for atmosphere in the 10th region tournament and sometimes during the season for a big game.

All of GRC's facilities (baseball/softball included) are as good as it gets on a HS level.
