You must have been looking back in a mirror, with that first sentence in this post. If that is what you want to say. Especially since you basically just said the same things, that made me comment on it to begin with. 
 

Losing sucks, and you haven’t had to deal with it much at all the last few years. So I it does make sense, that you don’t seem to get what I was saying in that post. 
 

Back to this game. Covcath has had a great four year run, and their future looks bright for it to continue. Bowling Green has a great team this year, and it should be a great State Title game next week. Best of luck to BG next week!

Some of them are either oblivious or just coming unhinged. Certainly not all but there are a few.  Wow.

Your right. CCH played the best game they ever have. No mistakes or easy missed throws. Executed perfectly all night, they were just dominated by the best high school football team in KY history. Just lucky they give a 100 I guess.

On a more serious note, you don’t agree that teams can “beat themselves” at times? That’s all I’m saying is the BG was better AND CCH executed uncharacteristically bad in the passing game. Don’t understand how that can be a controversial comment or take anything away from BG.

Did't get to see the game and just went back and read through the update thread.  Great game by the Purples and Cov Cath has nothing to hang their heads about.  

2 things I can say with certainty:  

-There are plenty of teams around the state that would love to have Eddie as their coach.

-There are plenty of teams around the state that would have loved to have Caleb as their QB the last 3 years.  

When I looked back and saw some of the comments about Caleb and Eddie in the update thread, I couldn't believe it.  Especially from the idiot calling Caleb the "worst QB in the state".  The kid has a state championship ring, and a runners up trophy.  I can guarantee you the errors last night (and maybe some during the season) probably resulted from him putting too much on his shoulders because he didn't have the supporting cast like he had the last couple of years.  Thats not a slam on the talent this year but it's a compliment to the teams of the last couple of years.  I'll take that kid in my foxhole any day over some jerk that wants to feel like a big man by putting down an 18 year old kid.  

By the way, this is coming from a New Cath parent who has rooted against Cov Cath as much as anyone.

To be fair, they had three others start inside the thirty but had the same miscues the Colonels had. 
 

Let’s call a spade a spade. Dominated in yardage, dominated in possessions, dominated in the scoreboard and personally, I thought dominated in coaching.

If you’re a Colonel fan how do you leave that place wondering how you didn’t get clocked Friday night?

it may not be a “real beat down” but nobody in the state not named Trinity handles Covington Catholic like that.

Down year talent wise since Eviston got here in 15. 17-19 was obviously loaded and I thought the 16 team was pretty good too and had a lot of talent. This year's team is definitely behind those 4 teams. 

Not necessarily results based, but talent based. I'm certainly not expecting to win a state title every year.

Since you don't have anything to do Saturday for $9.95 I believe you can watch BG play in the state finals on the official KHSAA broadcast.  I think all the games are available at this price.

The reality is I would never be embarrassed by anything this group did on a football field.  My guess is 99.9% of Colonel faithful agree.

These kids accomplished more in four years than almost every program in the Commonwealth.  In fact, they were one unfortunate, late turnover away from having a chance to set the state record for most consecutive victories. 

They have earned too much respect for a 20-0 loss in the semis to be considered remotely embarrassing.  
 

Regarding our three year starter at QB.  What a career.  He’s the only sophomore QB in CCH history to start in a state title game, and, he’s the only underclassmen to start at QB and win a state title at CCH.  I didn’t see the criticism that someone evidently posted.  If true, get a life.  
 

I bristled at a comment yesterday, that, true or not, felt like piling on.  Again, my opinion.  In hindsight, I wish I had put the phone down, because nothing productive was accomplished.  
 

As I said in the prediction thread, BG is an all time great sports program in KY.  They deserved and received all of Cov Cath’s respect. I’m not a fan of one of their posters, but I’m sure that feeling is mutual.

 

 

Didn't Paul Hladon win a Chip in 87 as an underclassmen? Pretty sure he did.

He was injured.  Bieger started and and played the whole way, in the title game.  Hladon started in ‘88 and may still have the record for most completions in a single game, on the biggest stage. He was awesome in that game against Paducah Tilghman.  Hladon definitely played in the ‘87 season, but was injured somewhere along the way.  Hladon led a great late comeback against the Birds in the ‘87 regular season, that really sparked the team.

Side comment - Don Bieger is one of the all time great field leaders to ever step on campus.  It had nothing to do with ability.  Just a tremendous competitor.

Grew up 3 doors down from the Biegers. Donnie taught me how to throw a football. He is THE reason I grew up wanting to play football at Cov Cath.

Not to drone on, but, he started the ‘87 season as QB.  Hladon relieved him in the Highlands game.  Instead of feeling sorry for himself, Donnie went to WR and caught a huge drive sustaining pass, during a comeback win, in the same game! That’s the measure of a winner.

As mentioned previously, Hladon injured his hand at some point during the season.  Bieger resumed the QB role, and the rest is history.
