Just doing some quick Googling... 

Kenton Co. Schools - $8903 per head coach 

Boone Co. Schools - use a salary index of .19 and based on experience. Let's say they have been coaching for 10 years that would mean you would make $9238 for coaching and it would increase each year 

Beechwood - $9000

This is close to double what I think most Head Football in NKY are being paid. Basketball and Baseball are right on par with what is being paid for those positions in the area. Despite the daily grind that comes with being a baseball coach (which includes field duty almost daily), $5000 is about the going rate.

Why does a salesman get paid a salary plus gets paid a commission vs the person who makes or prepares the sold product that only gets paid minimum wage?

It has something  to do with branding and something called revenue generation.

My guess would be 1. It’s Highlands Football and they are the revenue generator. 2. They have way more kids to oversee. That o-line coach is responsible for the same number of players as the basketball coach, and doesn’t have 3 assistants. That’s my 2 cents.

Well, why does John C make $9mill and Stoops $4.7mill? Geno Auriemma $2.4mill and Randy Edsall (UConn's football coach) $1.4mill? 

Get better, win more and then you get paid more. Never said it was easy BUT it’s the truth.

The number one consideration is what you have to pay in the market for the coach you want.

The other considerations to justify the expense is 1) the number of students under your supervision and instruction and 2) the revenue that is generated from the sport.

Looking at the list of salaries for both the HC and assistants,  I would say the Basketball has the highest per student cost at Highlands.  And football generates the highest revenue. Other schools may be different.

Here is JCPS coach salaries from 2018 so probably still close or same.
