The most desired head coaches currently see Highlands as a place to have to deal with unrealistic expectations from an extremely unrealistic fanbase. I don't know if the last staff was the problem. But I would have to be in a miserable job to want to insert myself into this situation. From the outside looking in - the unrealistic expectations, unrealistic coaching targets really make me wonder if this is a tenable situation. 

Highlands needs to come to grips with the fact that Tommy B, Chuck S, Bob S, Noel R are not walking through the door. The real question is -- can the fanbase deal with that? 

As an insider, I would say you have no idea who will apply for this job.  There is nothing unrealistic about wanting to win state titles at Highlands.  They have won at least one in every decade and will win more in the future.  Outsiders just do not see how things have eroded over the last few years.  Things were very stale and a change was needed.

My advice -- sell the farm to get Wolfe. He is a great option and he understands the environment. If that doesn't work out change directions ASAP or you will lose out.

One of the biggest reasons for the similarities between Beechwood and Highlands is because Beechwood only had like 5 or 6 winning seasons in i's first 24 years of football until Roger Walz came along from the Highlands assistant coaching staff and took over at Beechwood in 1968. Walz used the Highlands blueprint to rebuild what Beechwood had, and that has largely been the system kept in place for the last 50 years at Beechwood. Every Beechwood head coach has been selected from the previous head coach's assistant coaching staff since Roger Walz.

Rash would absolutely be a good candidate at Highlands. I just don't see Noel wanting to change over after, what, 25 years on staff at Beechwood? He's been the head coach since 2006. How long was he on Yeagle's staff before he took over?

Not a chance.

I think Highlands might as well invite Rash to interview. Like T-BIRDS said, worst thing that happens is he tells them to shut the front door, and for similar reasons I think they might as well invite Eviston to interview, but again, I just don't think either of those interviews will ever happen.

Fair enough and I agree with nearly everything you are saying. But unless some things change, the chances of winning state championships in the next decade are diminishing at best. 

I am 100% sure I understand who was the catalyst for the huge shift in fortunes at Highlands. And I would venture to say Uncle Dale saw the writing on the wall with that person. And maybe that is why BW was given so much time. I see your point as to why a change was needed. But just remember--not all of the problems go away with BW's resignation. A new coach isn't going to want to deal with the type of chatter that is going on right now. Advice from a friend -- get your fanbase to tone it down a notch or two. The Fort is a great place and I realize you guys are coming with great intentions. But it is not helping you.

For the record, Weinrich was given a choice of resignation or non- renewal, and he said non-renewal because he wasn’t quitting on the players.

Why did Brian Kelly take the Notre Dame job? Why did Eddie Eviston take the CovCath job? Heck, why did Uncle Dale take the Highlands job?

Because they are programs that will challenge a coach and his abilities to handle the pressures of winning and more importantly have the chance to add a brick to the house that was built before them. 
 

Probably why the names being thrown out here are being mentioned, because they have all proven that they can probably handle this program and the fan base that goes with it.
