I will take CCH 42-10 and another running clock. Coach Eviston will have the boys ready and focused. Again their on a mission to be state champs. Michael Mayer will have a big game too (both offense and defense) because that is what he does against better competition and he feeds off the crowd and it will be a big and loud crowd for this game just like the LaSalle game. Mayer wants the ball, he takes the game into his own hands and will make sure CCH gets the win to get back to the state final. It will fun to watch.

Got it. A team needs a game plan and yours may be as good as any. Just not sure how much it helps a team not built to execute it.

Fair point. If your team has limited capability in the passing game, you have no chance versus Cov Cath. I doubt a team with no passing ability makes it this far in 5A.

RE the bold, has there been a season where they weren't on a mission to be state champs? I hope not.

CovCath is a monster this year no doubt. The purples are not as good offensively as they normally are and I worry whether or not Mr. Tisdale will play. If he does I expect the Purples Defense to make it tough on CovCath. The fact of a broken hand kills any chance on offense though. I hate that, what a great player in the history of Bowling Green is limited or has to sit this one out. Hopefully for the purples they can make some big plays and play excellent Defense. I think BG is used to big games no matter what, and will be ready to leave it on the field. I think CovCath is the favorite to win it all, but I think it's closer than many expect.

CC 24-14.

Just have to speak on BG Purples offense... I really hate that so many judge this offense. Not sure if it’s by stats or what. Their offense has done very well considering the adversity they have been put through. Pretty sure the JR QB, Cooper, shared drives with the SR QB, Payne, until half of the season was over. Also, their JV QB, at one point, was getting more reps in the games then the starters due to the blowouts and playing some of the 3rd and entire 4th quarter. Lots of their offensive guys share drives. Definitely hard to put up any kind of numbers that way. Let alone get comfortable with each other. I think their O-Line may be the only guys that haven’t switched in and out this season.

I give it to these boys for battling regardless. When one player is hot, he still comes out so the next can get his turn.

Looking at the KHSAA stats, I see a lot of these QB’s playing entire games, regardless of the score. Not sure how we keep calling their offense scattered or not up to par. They’ve gotten the job done when the pressure was on the most! Proud of these guys. Not too many teams would be where they are this week while being dealt this hand.

That being said, good luck to both teams on Friday. Never know what can happen.. heck, Evansville beat UK this year! Lol

I voted for BG but didn’t know Tisdale had suffered an injury.

I'm certainly hoping there's still an opportunity for him to play with a cast/brace on his hand.

At current, South Warren and Madison Southern are the only state finals opponents that Cov Cath has ever faced on the field outside of the state finals (see below). Bowling Green gets added to that list on Friday. In the previous two games, Cov Cath beat Bowling Green 24-21 in a squeaker that came down to goal line clock management by the Purples in the 1994 3A finals, and then a 27-8 win by the Colonels in the 2006 3A finals.

My expectation for this Friday is a win by 2-3 touchdowns for the Colonels.

1987 - Paducah-Tilghman

1988 - Paducah-Tilghman

1993 - Lincoln County

1994 - Bowling Green

1997 - Hopkinsville

2006 - Bowling Green

2017 - Madison Southern

2018 - South Warren

Looking over CC's schedule and the one thing that gives BG hope is that Highlands and Lexington Catholic were able to compete with them. And a lot of the other teams CC beat weren't that great. So Covington Catholic just doesn't seem unbeatable to me.

But I think with Tisdale's injury and lackluster offense that makes mistakes, I just don't the Purples have enough in the tank to pull out a win.

It's hard not to notice three of our more visible Boyle County fans voting for Bowling Green in the poll. Any reason in particular there, or just coincidence?

My honest opinion with no bias with either team. 1.) I can not get the 39-38 come from behind win over Lexington Catholic out of my head. 2.) Bowling Green's only loss to a Kentucky team is Trinity and St. X. I personally feel they are better than everyone thinks.

One thing I can say for sure, Cov Cath's football team is not the same football team that played Lex Cath back on September 6th. At nearly 3 months past that game, now, there has been a LOT of positive development for the Colonels since that game. I've said it before on here, I'm honestly glad the team had that scare. It was a heck of a lesson to a team of players who have had very, very few times where they were actually up against the ropes or having to come from behind.

Did someone say this game is now at 6:00 on Friday? Is that correct?

6:00 is correct.

It's listed as 6:00pm on the KHSAA site and I just verified it with Cov Cath.

So is the Owensboro/Douglass game as well.
