Can Highlands' offensive coordinator come up with the right game plan? The film is all out there at this point to put a good game plan together. I think the Highlands defense can hold CCH enough to be in position to win.

This will be the seventy-first meeting of these two teams. They first played on Sept 20, 1968. The series record stands at 49-21 in Highlands' favor, with a regular season record of 36-15 and a playoff record of 13-6, both also in Highlands favor.

In the last 10 years, the series record has been 12-4, once again in Highlands' favor, but Covington Catholic has won the each of the last 4 meetings straight by a 33 point scoring margin averaged over the 4 games.

Is the CCH 4 game winning streak the longest in the history of the rivalry for CCH?

Caleb has another year under his belt and I think you see a lot more passing yards than last year at Highlands. Especially if it’s dry this year. Again, barring a penalty and turnover meltdown, my guess is 35-14 CCH.

There are several factors that Highlands can hang their hats on, but all of them are intangible. Being at home. "Throw out the records in a huge rivalry." CovCath is facing a potential let-down after a huge win last week.

However, CovCath's factors favoring them are more tangible: a better roster of Billy's and Joe's, and a better coaching staff.

You can't discount those in Highlands' favor, but at the end of the day, those CovCath advantages are a lot tougher to overcome.

CovCath (closer than many think): 24-17.

What do you mean by that?

I’m worried about Covcath manhandling the Birds. Hope I’m wrong!

The key to that for Highlands is discipline, stick to the game plan even if you get behind and no turnovers.

Looking at the forecast, Friday looks to be dry, so should favor CCH and their balanced attack. Last year the regular season game played in the rain making them 1 dimensional. Caleb Jacob was very ineffective as a sophomore QB in that game. I think Caleb will have a big game this year.

Yessir. The Colonels have had three 3-game win streaks though:

1987, 1988, 1988 (playoffs)

1990, 1991, 1992 (regular season)

1993, 1994, 1994 (playoffs)

Highlands' biggest streaks were 15-games (2007-2015), 9-games (1970-1978), and 6-games (1998-2001 playoffs).

I agree with the many saying this is THE rivalry game for both teams. Throw the records and last week out the window. Highlands is still Highlands and they are going to show up on Friday night with a very good defense. Expect a low scoring, hard hitting game, and close game.

I think that Caleb is going to have his hands full with the Highlands defense. He is going to have to be smart about his throws and check down. Highlands DB’s and LB’s are very good and can put a pick 6 on you at any moment. I think the run game is going to be the difference.

You're not wrong about HHS having a solid group of linebackers and defensive backfielders, but even getting picked twice on Friday, Caleb did okay last week against LaSalle and their crew of D1 defensive backs. Pretty sure I saw in the LaSalle game thread that there were four D1 defensive backs a D2 defensive back, and a D2 linebacker all on the roster for the Lancers.

Just keep working to improve, Caleb. You've got this!

The key to this fame is going to be the offensive line of Highlands. If they can keep Hollingsworth upright and keep the defense off the field for extended periods of time then they certainly have a chance to win this game.

Anyone able to project a Boyle/CCH score? Is there a tool or site for that?

While the big guys up front don't get the publicity, these types of games are almost always won/lost in the trenches.
