Caleb has another year under his belt and I think you see a lot more passing yards than last year at Highlands. Especially if it’s dry this year. Again, barring a penalty and turnover meltdown, my guess is 35-14 CCH.

Anyone able to project a Boyle/CCH score? Is there a tool or site for that?

Calpreps currently puts that one with Boyle Co. beating Cov Cath 31-28 if played on a neutral site.

I think that Caleb is going to have his hands full with the Highlands defense. He is going to have to be smart about his throws and check down. Highlands DB’s and LB’s are very good and can put a pick 6 on you at any moment. I think the run game is going to be the difference.

Not to be a devils advocate but doesn’t La Salle have like 5 D1 guys on their defense and most of them in the secondary?

While the big guys up front don't get the publicity, these types of games are almost always won/lost in the trenches.

Most games are actually won in the trenches, that is where the best coaching adjustments always need to be made.

The key to this fame is going to be the offensive line of Highlands. If they can keep Hollingsworth upright and keep the defense off the field for extended periods of time then they certainly have a chance to win this game.

I usually agree about games being won up front. However, against CCH I believe you have to eliminate the play of their defensive front 7 as a factor as much as possible. Quick passes, outs, slants, bubble screens, backs in the flats, curls, hitch, every way you can get the ball wide and out of the QB's hand fast is your best bet against CCH. Take the pressure off the o-line.

That has been a problem for the oline up to this point.

I expect CovCath to win running away.

Exactly why you do what I said. Ball must be out of the QB's hand in 2.5 seconds or less, even if he is purposely throwing it away.

Yessir. The Colonels have had three 3-game win streaks though:

1987, 1988, 1988 (playoffs)

1990, 1991, 1992 (regular season)

1993, 1994, 1994 (playoffs)

Highlands' biggest streaks were 15-games (2007-2015), 9-games (1970-1978), and 6-games (1998-2001 playoffs).

I don't think CovCath will ever forgive Highlands for those 15 games XD

Correct. LaSalle has 4 db’s with D1 offers, so that’s both corners and safety’s. Their D1 RB also played linebacker in the game. I’m sure HHS has a nice defense but doesn’t compare when it comes to high level talent. The safety for LaSalle, #7, was a stud. THe OSU d coordinator was at the game watching him.

I'd heard there were a few Greg Mattison sightings at the game.

He walked right be as I was standing in the end zone. Pretty cool

Ugh. I think the ‘Birds have their hands full in this game. My brain is telling me it will be a lot like the Highlands vs Boyle Co game. My heart is hoping the home field advantage and loud crowd makes it weird for Caleb playing in his home town. Also hoping the Birds have some tricks up their sleeves and some zany special teams stuff happens.

Running clock unless Huddleston gets touches and Buten makes an impact, in that case 42-14.

Just hope the Colonels win by 1 as they will most likely see them in Week 2 of the Playoffs. Huddy not only caught a ball last Friday, but ran it 3 times for like 10 yards. It will be interesting to see where they use him this week. Should be a beautiful night for a great rivalry.
