Arizona's Terrible Decisions

Recommended Posts

Seems like few are criticizing Arizona for how they handled the Rosen situation. Beyond that, their coaching situation.

They hired a new coach and traded up to draft a QB last year.

They fired the coach, then completely screwed up the trading of that 1 year l, first round QB by waiting until the last minute and actually getting a pick several spots lower than they could have from Miami...

I guess you could say they were smart for moving on quickly but they have made some pretty bad decisions.

Heard something yesterday about it. Basically said they were in a no-win situation. If they traded Rosen before the draft, then that gave Murray all the leverage in the contract negotiations. They said it wasn't so much the money (since there's a rookie scale already in place) as much as it was language about him leaving to go play baseball. And of course, waiting until after the draft started...well, we already know the negatives of that.

They ended up with Kyler, if he’s anything close to Wilson they made the right move/s.

The right move was to trade up to draft a QB last year, draft a QB first this year, wait around to trade the former 1st rounder and turn down the 48th pick in the draft only to accept a lower pick later?

Dave Gettleman would get killed for these decisions.

Rookie contracts are pretty standard now though. And he is still going to have to sign a contract, so that makes no sense.

I'm no expert here, just telling you what the so-called "experts" were saying. Again, it wasn't about the money. It was about the language in it, specifically regarding baseball. With the exception of Bo and Deon, there's really never been an issue like this before...certainly for a #1 draft choice.
