Actually, my wording was not as precise as it should have been. We know that CCH is better than Highlands. Whether CCH is better than JC has not yet been determined. Regardless of how the game turns out Friday night, we will not know for sure how a game between HHS and JC would turn out.

I can agree with that statement.

We know that? How? Have Highlands and Johnson Central played each other?

That's hardly a fact ... it's your opinion.

JC may be a better team than Covington Catholic, but we know that Highlands isn't and the Massey ratings are a reflection of that fact.

Better? Obviously, we have no way of knowing how Highlands and JC compare.

Jim Matney has been down this road before with Sheldon Clark. In the late 90"s he had some success and decided to travel outside Inez and start playing the Highlands and Beechwoods. We will see if he decides to step up to the plate again and expose his Eagles to some more Statewide competition other than who he has been beating up on the past couple of years. Or is the 2006 Johnson Central Eagles a one time thing!!!!!! I am allready planning the day after Thanksgiving in 2007 when you guys make the trip to the real nest. That's right we allready think that's where we will be this time next year, but that's a goal all Championship Programs do.

Simple as this, Play a Game. Start a 2 year series between the 2. Highlands will travel down to Painstville on a Friday Night. Johnson Central needs to free up some of their cupcakes and play the real Cakes

In JCs defense, when Matney took over 3 years ago this program was in shambles. Nobody would have expected them to reach this level this quickly. Certainly nobody expected them to go and lay out a brutal schedule this early into the turnaround.

With the success, and the expectations for it to continue, I'm sure JC will have a tougher schedule with the new alignment next season. If they keep the cupcakes, then we can say shame on you. But their schedule right now is filled with the type of teams that were beating JC only a couple of years ago and we have no reason to criticize them for it.

I've got a better idea, how about we get a headstart on the series. You guys travel down to Paintsville this Friday night and watch the Golden Eagles, considering we are still playing. :thumb:

Did JC send any tickets to CCH for presale? If not, since the gates will be opening at 4, will there be a lockout after a certain number of people enter?

The Massey power rating reflects that, too. It ranks CovCath about three points better than Highlands and six above Johnson Central.

Better. That was a pretty outlandish statement, even for you.

All true, Watusi, and your comments provokes a thought or two.

Perhaps my comments on Johnson Central's schedule have been a bit misconstrued. I've never accused Johnson Central of ducking anyone. I know there was some team (I forget who) that dropped them unexpectedly last season, forcing them to pick up some no-name team from West Virginia, and I know that Johnson Central wasn't exactly kicking butt when they set the schedule two years ago.

On the other hand, it isn't unfair to point out that Johnson Central's schedule isn't nearly as tough as those of the rest of Class 3A's top teams.

Does anyone know who is on Johnson Central's non-district schedule next season?

No, they will let people stand around the track behind the temporary fence that has been put up. they'll sell tickets to as many as wants to buy'em.

Excellent, thank you.

CCH has tickets for sale $5 per adult and student.

I am almost certain that Belfry will be on it. Beyond that, I think it is still a work in progress.

As I have said, and as I am sure that you know - Massey does not list teams in order or their "power" ranking. If you ask him where he has Highlands ranked, I am pretty sure that he would tell you that he has them ranked below both JC and Covington Catholic. Why do I think so? Because that is the order in which Mr. Massey lists them. Your objections are duly noted, but they should be addressed to the man who compiles the ratings - not to me.

Covington Catholic has sold, or at least taken, 3,000 tickets already and they have requested more. That kind of support is very impressive from a program whose fans will be driving at least 3-1/2 hours to the game. Hopefully, our fans will not be outnumbered. If everybody shows up, JC should have its largest crowd to every watch a football game Friday night.
