The truth of the matter is that they are better. Much better. This coming from an unbiased sometimes fan of both teams.

If the Top SEC teams would quit dodging the Cards we wouldn't have to argue about a weak schedule:

 

Years ago, in Howard's first seasons when the Cards were weak everybody, that was anybody, wanted a piece of the Cards, Top 10 opponents from BCS leagues wanted to play UL, they were waiting in line to play the Cards home and home. TENN, Texas, Penn St, Ohio St, Oklahoma, ASU, Illinois to name a few. The Cards could schedule the best of the best with no problem.

Then the worm turned, Miami and Fla State who got in on the end of the deal, both paid the price for their tardiness. Miami should have paid twice but they got very lucky.

 

Now the Cards are feared and can't get any of the perennial powers to play them, so what right do the perennial powers have to complain when the Cards go undefeated with a weak schedule. They could have met the challenge at any time but by dodging the challenge they will now have to play the BCS hand they are dealt with.

The facts are that UL has been a bowl team almost every year for the last 15 years, they have the second longest home unbeaten streak in the country, they have been ranked in the top 6, 2 of the last 3 years and in the top 20 for the last 3 years. They can play with anybody in the country and the opponent will probably have to score atleast 40 points to beat them.

The only solution for the problem we have today is for the Top teams in the SEC, Big Ten, Big 12 and PAC Ten to start scheduling the Cards and meet the challenge. Coach Petrino is always ready to talk.

 

And trust me on this if and I do mean if the Cards do go undefeated and if the winner of the OSU-Michigan game is undefeated we want that winner.

^^^I dont know....GT might have me convinced that it would be better if the Cards were overlooked for the NC game. Of course I want the Cards to win it all, or even just getting there would be a phenomenal feat. But it would oh so sweet to play the champion of the SEC in a BCS bowl, and end all speculation about whether or not the Cards would fare well in the $EC.

Absolutely...It would be SWEET to see Brohm get SMOKED all night long, and to see the defense get SHREDDED by the likes of Chris Leak or Kenny Irons.

I also think that you are not giving near the credit to the athletes that U of L has in its skill positions...I would put them at better than those at both Florida and Auburn.

 

Yeah I know you would put them in over those teams, but I not sure that all the people in the polls would...

 

But a one loss Florida, Auburn, Tennessee, Texas, or USC team would dismantle Louisville.

 

I disagree. I would favor Louisville in all of these matchups.

 

Also to the point that Louisville would not go undefeated in the SEC, I'd say you are probably right. However I don't believe any team in the SEC would go undeafeted in the Big East with both WVU and Louisville in it.

I do not think many people believe UL would do that bad in the SEC and a one game scenario would prove little to nothing. Many (including about 99% of the country) belive UL would have a hard time rolling through the conference and being one of the two favorites to make the BCS championship game.

 

If I were UL, I would be happy with the situation. Deep down people know being in a power conference would diminsish their chances drastically; they are in a near perfect situation.

I love this entire post but that part...they were absent form postseason play from 1994 - 1998..other wise alright.

That wouldn't happen....Irons is good, but I like how North and South he runs...and their QB certainly doesn't have the moxie to shread U of L... Leak is awesome...I have always been a major apologist for him...but I really think Tebow would be more of a problem for U of L ....btw, when Brian Brohm is like he was Thursday...there is not a better QB in the land....I truly feel that way, be it from pre-snap reads, to throwing in the tight zones, etc....Brohm would not be a factor if U of L were to lose to an SEC team.

With Florida and Auburn...you have to look at Florida's struggles with UGA, the terrible finish to Auburn...and the ugly win against UK....Auburn's escape from USC, the blowout loss at home against Arkansas, and the tight one with MSU...

 

U of L struggled against UC, and Syracuse (somewhat)...but the HUMANS know that Brohm was shaking off rust, and that OSU struggled (albeit for a half) against UC......computers can't differentiate that...

Don't get me wrong...I love being in the BEast. It puts UL in the position every year to go to a BCS game, which may not be the case in another conference.

I agree with this...it would be just as hard for Auburn, Fla, etc...to march through the current Big East.

UL has a great football team and I believe they can put a lot of points on the board against anyone. The only thing I dont know is how well they could stop a Michigan, Ohio St, Texas, or a Florida team.
