Texas is not ranked number two anymore. They nearly lost to Texas Tech last Saturday. Not so strong an argument.

Other than UT's win over CAL who has the SEC beaten that is ranked? AND Miami was ranked when Louisville beat them, like it or not.

 

And everyone knows that Miami is a hollow shell of the former selves this year.

 

Arguing that a UofL win over Miami is as good as a OSU win over Texas, UM win over ND, or UT win over Cal is comical.

Louisville and WV are the only teams in the current Top 10 that has a schedule below .500

There was a game in early September that comes to mind.

Uhh.. UofLs offense was very impressive, without a doubt, but giving up 33 to ANYONE is breaking, not bending.

 

It was a shootout pure and simple. Louisville came up with the big plays and won, but there are no excuses for the defense.

If you watched the game...you would know what I mean...they stopped WVU on 3-4 occasions that were the difference in the game...you have to know those kinds of things.

 

Ohio State and Michigan are not the two best teams in the country.

 

Would this info change your mind.

 

As for Ohio State and Michigan, it's hard to imagine a whole lot of scoring when they meet, as both teams are putting up some staggering defensive numbers:

 

12: Michigan has allowed one touchdown in its last 12 quarters.

 

13: Not to be outdone, the Buckeyes have allowed one TD in their last 13 quarters.

 

7.33: Ohio State leads the nation in scoring defense, giving up just 7.33 points per game. I know I've harped on this a bit this year, but it truly boggles the mind -- this is a team that was fifth in the nation in scoring defense last year and had six players drafted from that side of the ball, including three in the first round. The Buckeyes lost nine defensive starters in all, yet they're giving up exactly one touchdown less per game than they did last season.

I agree with you that if UL makes the BCS it wont be the 2nd best team in the country playing in the game. However out of the teams you mentioned I would take UL over LSU and Tennessee, but just not over Auburn or Florida.

 

College football just needs a playoff system. I know I would love to see an 8 team playoff to determine the champion, but I know that probably wont ever happen and if it did it wont be for a long time...

Here's the thing...while it may not be the most popular...you can only go with who, OOC that people play, being that each team has to play it's conference opponents...with that the only teams with an argument then, are USC, OSU, UM, and ND.....now being that the goal or supposed goal is to win ALL OF YOUR GAMES...at the end of it all if there are only two teams that have done so, from the BCS, that would be the finale to the season long playoff....your conference is simply a tougher bracket, that's all....just like St. X's district being the SEC of 4A.

Now I dont think those things would happen, but if it did then there is a chance that a SEC school maybe could slip into the title game...

If that team is Florida, they will likely be maxed out on Computer rankings, and they would need the humans to help, and many of the humans want two undefeateds.

Like Cowherd said today, you have to give UL some credit for trying. The "U" and K-State were probably much more attractive opponets a few years ago when they were added to the schedule. UL is suffering from the same problem that ND has this year. Some of their opponets are way down from what they traditionally acheive.

They played well enough to win, but the defense is certainly suspect.

 

That aside, after the game I feel UofL falls somewhere between 2-10 in the rankings (there's a lot of parity there I think) and WVU is probably in the 7-12 range.

 

My top 10 after last night would be:

 

1. OSU

2. UM

3. Texas

4. Louisville

5. Auburn

6. Florida

7. Tennessee

8. ND

9. Cal

10. USC

11. WVU

 

Thats how I feel they'd fare in head to head matchups, not what I expect the polls/BCS to reflect.
