So, for any team to be 'for real,' they'd have to play a full SEC slate of 8 games, or they're automatically doubted?

Seriously, though, I think you're looking for one of the more 'full-contact' message boards, it's not really custom on this site to try and antagonzie someone into leaving the board (unless you're in the Politics and Religion forum ) Usually when someone says they're hanging it up, we do all we can to change their mind.

Lighten up guys! I'm not personally attacking Brohm. Please re-read my statement. He's one of the best QB's in the NCAA. I'm just saying that he would have a tougher road to the National Title game if he chose to play in the S.E.C. Geez, lighten up Frances. I never went on the offensive against Mr. Brohm. I've never met him, and I'm sure he's a swell guy.

Point blank, Louisville is a great team. My point in ALL my posts is simply that they won't be able to hang with a proven S.E.C. team through four quarters with the National Championship at stake.

Point blank, Louisville is a great team. My point in ALL my posts is simply that they won't be able to hang with a proven S.E.C. team through four quarters with the National Championship at stake.

I disagree, because in a one game scenario with over one month to prepare, teams are rusty and you never know how they are going to come out of the gates playing, etc. UL would have no problem competing with anyone. Now, the question if they could go through the SEC without a loss... well, 1) It is becoming the new dead-horse of BGP; 2) chances are, no they could not and would probably be out of title contention, but thankfully for them they never have to try.

Whether or not it is a national title game or not would have nothing to do with it. In a one game scenario with the skill position talent and coaching staff that they have I think Louisville could hang with and have a good shot to beat any team in the country:SEC, ACC, Big 12, Big 10, Pac 10, Notre Dame or whoever. I do tend to agree with a lot of the national media that I have listened to in regards to UL, WVU or Boise State--and that is: although their skill position players are as good as anyone and they have a good offensive and defensive front the do not have the same amount of good, big, fast players as the top teams in the "power" conferences. I feel like UL would have a hard if not impossible time running the table in the SEC or one of the other top conferences. I think that they could more than hold their own and would compete for the conference title in ANY conference in the country but an 8 game grind plus a possible title game would lead to 1 or 2 losses a year. This isn't downing UL but if the other powers can't do it UL wouldn't do it either. There have been only 2 undefeated teams in the last 10 years in the SEC, no way UL is any better than the 1 loss Florida or LSU teams that won the national title. In 1 game sure, they can do it. Over a whole season, they'd lose a game or 2--which puts them on par with the upper level teams in the power conferences--maybe not the top team in some of the conferences but in the discussion. Anyone that thinks they wouldn't be competing for a division title in the SEC this year is fooling themselves.

They probably don't belong but since they've gotten up to 14 in the polls they've kind of forced themselves into the conversation. Personally, I think they'd be more of a middle of the road BCS team: like a South Carolina or Texas Tech.

Not only that, but specifically in the context you were working in, as far as the quality of their players. Louisville doesn't just produce skills position players, as is shown by several of our players from last year playing in the league, and having good rookie seasons (Jason Spitz, starting lineman for Green Bay, Elvis Dumervil continuing his sack artist and fumble producing ways, being the two best examples, although they aren't the only ones.)
