Board, Athletic Foundation, and interim leadership everywhere. The present position is not a very attractive one with all the unknowns. Potential risk/reward highly out of balance. Mack probably is having restless nights over this toxic decision.

Could not agree more. But, the lack of shame of what has happened in the program will probably do more to deter him than most on this thread will want to acknowledge. It appears Chris Mack is a man of great character and will not be make this potentially toxic move until he knows the program (from top to bottom) values doing things the right way as the only way. Candidly, there is not much of a recent track record to indicate that and give any quality candidate the feeling the committment is there.

My gosh folks, we've had the Governor of Ky needing to step in and tell the iniversity there is great disfunctionality in the governance and administrative oversight of this institution. Then we have the political aspirations of the AG jumping in to challenge this step through the courts. We have had prostitutes help with recruiting and the head coach declare no knowledge or responsibility. We have assistant coaches investigated and on record for accepting/funneling money to recruits family and again a head coach claiming no knowledge and/or responsibility. We have had an AD go down fighting for the integrity of his coaches and athletic programs. We have seen the school's President terminated for possible self dealing between the school and the Foundation he headed. We have public battles between board members, administrators, department heads, and politicians from both parties and levels of governance. We have interim administrators at multiple levels. We have just been required to forfeit three years of victories and the first ever forfeited NCAA championship and that is prior to the FBI/NCAA current investigation. Other then those few items, Louisville is a top notch D1 program with little risk for any up and coming coach. There is obviously a track record and historical track record of always doing things right. And that comes from a UL supporter/realist.

Whoever UL hires will get a long term deal and money. Probably 8 years and big money to get past uncertainty. Pitino also got 2 million per year from Addidas. With UL being Addidas flag ship program, I could see them kicking in some money also. Also have ACC network in works which will be more money in future.

Xavier search will be interesting.
