9th Region Tournament Field

Just like we saw Newport get blown out by CovCath in the 2015 Finals (Lost in OT) or 2010 when Newport upset heavily favored CovCath.

The 2015 Newport Covcath overtime game was in the 1st round. The 2010 finals Newport beat Holmes. But I get your point.

well the draw just made my Monday decision of either the 9th final or the 10th semi-final much easier.

That should be s dandy if GRC and Campbell Co advance.

Let us not forget, Newport knocked off a top 10 team in Lexington Catholic earlier this season......

They also have losses to Holmes and Beechwood, two very average teams. You just never know what you're going to get from Newport. I can see them going all the way, but I can also see them losing first round to HC.

Holmes game was early. They beat Holmes handily at this point. Beechwood game, they overlooked and thought it was over before they started. It’s gonna take an A++ plus game from the Indians and a B- game from Newport, for Holy Cross to pull the upset.

Anyone know what broadcasts will be available? Any tv webcasts allowed this year? I'm assuming all CovCath and Holy Cross games will have radio webcasts??

Video is never allowed.

Holy Cross Radio will be at NKU all week to cover all Holy Cross boys and girls games.

Video is never allowed.

Somebody will Facebook live feed it I’m sure.

Agree 100 %. All Championship games should be Saturday. Superbowl, NCAA Football and Basketball... High School as well...Just my opinion...

You are providing Holy Cross a lot of bulletin board material. I think Newport has very good talent. They are also not consistent. The strategy against NewCath in the 4th quarter to go into a stall was just bad coaching and that's why I don't think they beat Holy Cross. Coach Schrand will find a way to frustrate Newport and they will fall a part.

Holy Cross beats Newport in the first round. Would not shock me if Ryle beats Dixie. How about a Holy Cross/Ryle regional semifinal? I do think Holy Cross will knock off Newport, the Wildcats are too up and down in big games. They dominate NewCath for 3 quarters last night and fall part in the 4th. Holy Cross 53, Newport 49.

Who won the Newport/NCC game, I must have saw an incorrect score.

Newport is 24-6 on the season. If that isn’t consistent, I don’t know what is. I guess if they were 24-5 like Cooper, they would be the model of consistency. I’m not putting Newport on the same level as Cooper or CovCath at this point, but they have been the 3rd best team in the 9th Region All season.

What is consistent is your clear bias against Newport. Which is fine, your merely a fan of another team and I’m cool with that.

What has been really inconsistent have been your rankings and your picks of winners and losers. At one point you had Beechwood, NCC, and Boone at number 3, even though Newport was 4-1 against those 3 teams, and had to lose on a buzzer beater to lose to Beechwood, on a night when Makhi McGuire, one of the regions best shooters, didn’t play.

You also picked NewCath to win the district all year. They lost. You picked Bellevue to beat Newport. They lost. You picked NewCath to beat Newport in regular season. They lost.

You did pick the Cooper game correctly, but so did most of BGP nation. Not a tough one to pick, especially at Cooper, where they haven’t really lost in a couple years.

I’m fine that as a fan you have a bias towards one team, but to have an odd dislike for another is baffling.

Always sad when people choose to root against others more than they just root for their own teams.

As for bulletin board material, Holy Cross is tough minded. Good, tough kids, with a good coach, and they won’t need bulletin board material. Same for Newport. At the end of the day, I think both sides will be ready to go because it’s win or go home. You’ll see the best of each of the 8 teams in the region.

Newport won by 1 in OT. Newport was coasting for 3 quarters. NCC came roaring back and dominated the 4th quarter. Newport escaped late.
