Holy smokes....we will have either Dixie or Holy Cross in the final.

Sounds like he knew what he was talking about this time.

As I had said previously, HC would have to play their A++ game and Newport play B- and that’s what happened. Beating a team 3 times is awfully tough. Kudos to HC on the W.

Can we sleep on Newport now?

Since you seem to have been waiting for it, go ahead.

A lot of people have been tough on Schrand but he definitely won the coaching side of the game by a very wide margin. HC played at a very nice tempo from the jump and Newport literally never adjusted to HC faceguarding Burris. Newport was perfectly content just playing 4 on 4 which is exactly what Schrand wanted obviously so excellent plan after getting blown out twice by same team.

This is also why I laughed at people saying Newport could beat the big dogs Cov Cath or even Cooper. Those teams aren’t going to lose to a team that is very limited on offense outside of Burris. They defend at a much higher level than anyone in the region which will make an upset nearly impossible. Also it should make Saturday very interesting because we have 1 game to advance to state basically and another between HC and Dixie to advance as far as possible and have a shot to shock the world which is always a fun “freeroll”

@MidwestUnited you’re the biggest Newport hater ever!! You haven’t given them any credit once all year you picked Bellevue to beat them. I really like to wonder who your favorite team is in the 9th? And why you have so much animosity towards newport

HATER or knew what I was talking about? You don’t know what Newport team shows up!

Newport was 24-7... explain how they are inconsistent? Of course if they lost a game, they probably didn't play as well as normal. However, Holy Cross was 13-16, so obviously, they were also wildly consistent this season, as well. So, how can you pick Holy Cross to beat Newport based on the "you never know what Newport team shows up" theory, when you also don't know what HC team will show up. Just curious.

People say you are a hater of Newport, because you talk ill of the coaching (24-7, District title, 5 straight region appearances), and because you picked against them all year and were 2-3 in your selections. I have not seen you post so critically of any other team. So, maybe, there is a personal vendetta there (potentially?).

Newport had no strategy at all! Thats why I kept saying in the 9TH Region rankings all season Newport was overrated!

Thinking about going to the NewCath game tonight (my nine year old son really wants to go). What are realistic thoughts on how this one is going to go? My dad already said him and my uncle plan on leaving at half (both NewCath boys). Can I just listen to this online?

Last year, Holy Cross lost to Cooper by 12, and Cooper didn't play all that great. I think NCC could give them a run for a half or so. NCC has 2 really nice players in Hall and Luken. They could keep it close. With that said, Cooper seems to be on a mission. I think they win in the end with a double digit victory.

LOL. This is why people say, "hater". You are clearly in this for the shock factor at this point. I guess the coaches just roll the balls out at practice and let the kids do what they want in games. The ol' John Calipari rule: roll the balls out and play. :)

If you think Newport had a game plan last night what was it?

I think Snapp does a good job. I think he needs to schedule a little tougher to get his team ready for the region tournament though.
