If this happened to my son I’d be hiring the best international attorney/brightest international negotiator/camped out at the President’s door to get my kid out of there asap. I’d be scared to death.

I’m sure any parent would do that. Being a “college kid” has no bearing on this matter as they are adults and should act and be treated like one. While they may not have the life experiences and knowledge that the rest of us do they should, at the very least, know that stealing is wrong. Not only that but doing it in a foreign country where their rules apply and not your own nations’s is even worse and they should have known that going in. I’m not going to say they weren’t raised properly but somewhere down this line someone should have already taught them that stealing is wrong and you cannot do that. Regardless Lavar Ball and the rest of his family do have my sympathy as they try to get their son back home.

I don't think that is their punishment, I think that's just for them being out on bail and then waiting on the judicial process.

Gotcha, much better than 3-10 years in prison. If I'm UCLA or Steve Alford I'm making them do something in the hotel as punishment and then suspending them for several games once they're back in the States.

I agree...but who has to pay for the hotel...The players or UCLA? I think NCAA rules will force the players to have to either pay for their rooms or pay UCLA back for them.
