It's been a while since I have been on the site but I saw the score on twitter and thought I would visit.

 

The last time I went to David Cecil Memorial the Birds were up on the Colonels 55-0 at half. If Coach Mueller hadn't let off the gas, Highlands could have scored 100.

 

You will not find a group anywhere in the state who respect Highlands football more than Cov. Cath. fans. After 2006 it was a pretty lean decade.

 

I no longer follow high school football close enough to offer an opinion on when the pendulum will swing back. It is, however, with the greatest amount of confidence that I offer the opinion that it will.

 

Congratulations to the Colonels for a job well done.

As long as Eddie and this staff are together, they are going to have this ball rolling downhill. Future teams won't match this one, but they will be talented and a true state title threat. Players are going to want to come to play for these guys just like players did for Yeagle and Mueller. Not comparing this to those dynasties at all, just saying they have the ability to get kids to come in from every where and the coaches with personal high level development.

Really disappointed the Birds couldn't establish any offense. The turnovers were their doom. CovCath is the real deal. I expect them to roll and win state. AJ is very impressive and they play fast.

Agreed. To draw players they need the state title. Players want that ring. I will be very surprised if they don't get it this year.

CovCath has something in Eviston, make me wonder what Highlands will counter with.

Was a fun night and I am not talking the game but seeing all my buddies from the 1967 team at halftime and after the game! Had a ball.

For a game that means so much, there was little to no passion, heart, desire, expectation of success. I am sure I will read tomorrow how someone just did not lineup right, or focus on their keys or did not trust someone, blah, blah, blah. I watched a CovCath team tonight that looked like the Highlands teams of old. They were confident and most importantly aggressive from the word "go". That is a direct reflection of the man in charge.

 

Highlands had some energy right up to the point of the first interception and from that point forward heads were hanging and the beat down was on. This seems to now be the rule and not the exception at Highlands.

 

I watched a team win 52-0 and have how many kids playing on both sides of the ball? I did not think that was possible in today's day and age of high school football. You know what, that is a coach that gets "IT".

THIS...Eddie has completely changed the culture, and as long as he stays, I honestly don't see them losing to the Birds.
